80,000 Freepers and Growing - Freepathon
3-1-02

When Jim Robinson started Free Republic in September, 1996 to expose the corruption in government and particularly the Clinton Whitehouse, he was alone. Now six years later, Free Republic has 80,000 registered members and who knows how many visit this site often, just to keep up on the latest conservative thinking.
Folks, you all know where this is going, Free Republic is a user supported website and it is time to support it. Four times a year we have this freepathon to donate a few dollars to pay for the bandwidth and expenses necessary to keep Free Republic online, and we do so with gratitude and cheer because of what is offered and accomplished by the existence of Free Republic.
Free Republic does not charge a membership fee or get supported by a government grant. No, people from across the World make donations large and small because they see the value of Free Republic. So if you're one that appreciates this site and want to see it continue, please send in a few dollars to help keep it alive.

And now the moderators can bump the thread, so we don't need the additional threads! So, how many posts will it take to complete this FReepathon?

Thank you annie. Outstanding start to the first day.
I'm just so happy for FR!!!!!

Never never land is an ideal location surrounded by water. It is big and yet small. It is the best location for the liberal leaning left. It is small enough to accommodate their brains, yet big enough to support their egos.
This place is owned by Michael Jackson, but Al Gore is the President. BS is the lead singer, with Hiltery on back-up.

I just donated again, but I'm wondering--- didn't we just do this? I thought JimRob or someone was negotiating to get much cheaper webhosting so that this fundraiser would be $20,000 or so.

I know this has probably been said before in some form or another, but I really wish to say it again.
Any FReeper worth his or her own salt should have a monthly deduction for what you obviously deem worthy your time. If it's worth your time, it's worth your money.
Most people here donate when it comes time for the quarterly threads. How many of you could simply divide by 3 the amount you donate quarterly and donate that once a month. It's really simple, easy to budget and makes things much easier for all those who need to pay the bills.
Wouldn't it be great if the monthly contributions added up high enough so that these fundraising threads could be history... Not that they aren't fun to participate in :o)

All we ask is you keep this in Breaking News, for that, a huge { { { { { { { HUG } } } } } } }

$25 from ArizonaDamn, I make up 20% of the monthly donations in Arizona.

The more users you who access the site, the more costly it's going to be. I believe FR runs pretty smoothly. When there is downtime, we all go nuts on Yahoo, and it's only an hour or so. Since I've been here there has only been one time where FR was down for a couple days and that was for a software, IP change. Boy, talk about withdrawal!!!!!!! Considering what we get, I think the money spent is so much more beneficial than cable tv or the newspaper. That's my opinion, though.
