80,000 Freepers and Growing - Freepathon
3-1-02 | Topaz

Posted on 03/01/2002 4:59:36 AM PST by Topaz

When Jim Robinson started Free Republic in September, 1996 to expose the corruption in government and particularly the Clinton Whitehouse, he was alone. Now six years later, Free Republic has 80,000 registered members and who knows how many visit this site often, just to keep up on the latest conservative thinking.

Folks, you all know where this is going, Free Republic is a user supported website and it is time to support it. Four times a year we have this freepathon to donate a few dollars to pay for the bandwidth and expenses necessary to keep Free Republic online, and we do so with gratitude and cheer because of what is offered and accomplished by the existence of Free Republic.

Free Republic does not charge a membership fee or get supported by a government grant. No, people from across the World make donations large and small because they see the value of Free Republic. So if you're one that appreciates this site and want to see it continue, please send in a few dollars to help keep it alive.

It must be the advantages of broadband and fast fingers <VBG>.

In my case, it's broadband and simplicity, though not necessarily in that order :-)

Thanks to all Californians for sharing what Gray Davis has left you!

Living in California, we know what a miserable life we would have re getting the real news and finding conservative without Free Republic!

If you Californians have not voted, get out and vote. I have been calling and receiving calls all morning re getting out to vote and some issues on the ballot!

Go Simon and no on all of the left wing tax and spend items. Hit the phones and email later today to get the slow voters out!

LOL!!!!

I'm in my "office" with dedicated stuff and I can do faster at home with my 56k modem and dial-up on not terribly sophisticated phone line than I can here.

But I will give up speed for the chance to really see some of the great pix that have been posted on this thread!!!!

(comeon bonus check, comeone taxreturn check - I need puter fix up!!!!)

Go Simon and no on all of the left wing tax and spend items.

We sure could have used you on the ballot issues taxing smokers in Kookiefornia.

There would be 2 things that would make your office slower; everyone else using it and a proxy server (when IE starts up, if it's using a proxy server it will say "Detecting proxy settings").

'Tis time to grab a bite to eat. I'll be back later.

Why wait any longer?!!

Still thinking about donating to Free Republic for the first time? Please consider the following words as you make your decision:

2366 posted on 3/3/02 6:57 PM Pacific by McGavin999

"A lot of people come to FreeRepublic on a daily basis for their news. Strangely, many of them never stop to think about how this site is paid for. Many have no idea that FreeRepublic is fully funded by the people who use the site.

If everyone who was registered donated $1 a month, we'd never have to have a fund raiser. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen. Some people think their $5 or $10 wouldn't make a difference, but it would."

2497 posted on 3/3/02 8:32 PM Pacific by Gabz

"...These are not the people we are appealing to, it's those that don't think twice about logging in here. If we could get everyone of them to kick in $12 once a year - we'd be done with the FReepathons."

2566 posted on 3/3/02 10:29 PM Pacific by kayak

"While large donations are great, often it is the small ones that are sacrificial and inspiring.

Every penny that is donated is greatly appreciated and helps to pay the bills.

Those who are not in a position right now to donate can still make an important contribution by bumping this thread or pinging others to it."

2620 posted on 3/4/02 5:20 AM Pacific by RottiBiz

"...You state perfectly what the FReepathons are all about. If more of us gave a small amount on a regular monthly basis, we would never have to hold them.

I believe that 99% of the registered FReepers would never miss a monthly donation of $5.00 a month. At the same time, all of us honor our FReeper friends who might be in difficult financial straits and are happy to carry the burden for them."

3623 posted on 3/3/02 6:57 PM Pacific by WIMom

"We have to stay vigilant, we have to fight, we can not let the RATS destroy our Republic!

We have made a difference. Free Republic is that tool for us to gather, meet like minded individuals and fight for all we believe. Keep this web site running. The liberals hate us, so we must be on the right track!"

3689 posted on 3/3/02 6:57 PM Pacific by Grampa Dave

"We must keep Free Republic strong, growing and ready for all the future tricks by the dark sides! There is only one way to do that.

We must share some of our treasure that the Lord has loaned to us with Free Republic. It is that simple!"

An excerpt from Grampa Dave's Free Republic Lifeform post:

"This is a wonderful description of what Free Republic really is. It is a living and evolving Life Form to battle the left wingers and those who would destroy this country!

The Free Republic Life Form enables us to discover the truth about what is happening. We can avoid the spin of the major mediots as they work 24/7 to weaken this country. We come to the Free Republic Life Form to find the truth!...

Free Republic needs a constant infusion of cash to keep the Free Republic Life Form alive, viable and to grow. If we believe in Free Republic, we must donate each month or quarterly to keep this incredible life form alive... Good stewardship is what this world needs, not good intentions. Good conservative stewards will insure that the Free Republic Life Form continues to grow, be viable and thrives!"

5,000 Freepers who care are needed now!

"Donating to Free Republic is the best investment we can make for us, our family and our friends!"
          - Grampa Dave

Your support of Free Republic will be greatly appreciated!! And you'll be helping the "Free Republic Lifeform" continue it's growth!! As McGavin999 stated, "Some people think their $5 or $10 wouldn't make a difference, but it would." Make a difference. Please contribute today.

Thank You!!

But I think we better ask JimRob's permission first, don't you????

Absolutely! This is JimRob's board and he should be asked first.

TA knows why most threads and posts get pulled. I have had a couple pulled, and I know why!

Steve's correct we need some chow.

It's a fiesta! You get 22 mini burritos, 30 mini tacos, 22 cream cheese poppers, 22 cheddar poppers, 22 mini taquitos, and an entire pound of salsa.

A very nice start!

Thank you Sir. I don't care what that grand jury asked me about you. I wasn't sure it was you anyways as the film was grainy and the room dark and all those girls and that leather stuff and I couldn't get my eyes off all that booze in the bar and..........
