When Jim Robinson started Free Republic in September, 1996 to expose the corruption in government and particularly the Clinton Whitehouse, he was alone. Now six years later, Free Republic has 80,000 registered members and who knows how many visit this site often, just to keep up on the latest conservative thinking.

Folks, you all know where this is going, Free Republic is a user supported website and it is time to support it. Four times a year we have this freepathon to donate a few dollars to pay for the bandwidth and expenses necessary to keep Free Republic online, and we do so with gratitude and cheer because of what is offered and accomplished by the existence of Free Republic.

Free Republic does not charge a membership fee or get supported by a government grant. No, people from across the World make donations large and small because they see the value of Free Republic. I often wonder what would have happened in the 1992 election if we had today's internet, Free Republic, Fox News and the current crop of conservative talk radio show hosts who have joined Rush! Plus 100,000 active Freepers of course!

We didn't have, but we can may have that many Freepers by the next election this fall!

In the mean time we live for today and tomorrow which will be today, tomorrow. If that hasn't fried people's brains, please contribute monthly to Free Republic!

I want you to know that this comment of yours is just another reason that FR means so much to me.

You don't know me from adam - yet you care. I've met so many great people here - people I've never laid eyes on I can talk to as if I've known them all my life.

Please don't get me wrong - making FRiends was never my reason for getting involved here, promoting conservative reasoning is, but the FRiendships are a wonderful plus.

The FReeper FRiend that stayed with us this weekend is a great example - he's out of town on business and couldn't justify the expense and time involved with going home for the weekend, but could get away with a 3 hour drive to us - we were thrilled to have him and had a wonderful time.

I live a mile from Dover Air Force base - any FReeper or FReeper relative that finds him or herself stuck or coming to DAFB - FReepmail me - The door will always be open. And even when we finally do sell this house and move we'll only be 2 hours from both Norfolk or DAFB!!!!
