MSNBC: Ari Fleischer To Blast Clinton Administration At 12:30
MSNBC | 2-28-02 | My Favorite Headache

Posted on 02/28/2002 7:30:09 AM PST by My Favorite Headache

Just heard a news break from Rick Sanchez saying the Bush administration is going to hold the Clinton administration responsible for pressing peace talks in a volatile situation that they knew would result in more violence against Israel beginning in 2000....more to follow during briefing. But apparently Ari is going to have something big to say on this and where the U.S. is going to go with the situation in Israel and the war on terrorism.

Are there other's here that feel like I do, a little let down?

Yes, I get that feeling sometimes. The Democrats are so actively, openly, angrily hostile to Bush and he just continues to forge ahead the best he can in a gentleman-like manner. I think there are times for righteous indignation and calling people what they are "lying, hypocritical jerks"...Well, there are other terms for them, of course.

Bill Clinton will not be able to resist responding to this personally.

I have been listening to MSNBC most of the day and they have reported
that Clinton has sent a memo on this already. Also Ari has issued a
memo back tracking big time. I am sure they will have Clinton all over
the TV on this. It is sad how the Repubs back down so easily.

"Ari may have said more than he was authorized to say, it happens." __________________________________________________________

I know exactly what Ari can or cannot say, Ari has nothing to do with how I feel. Ari does as he is told, he is great at his job, I happen to be one of his biggest fans.

As for your getting tired of the complaining about President Bush, can't help you there, that's what we Americans do best, complain.

These men and women that run for public office's are the most vocal human beings in the world, they will talk to the American public about everthing or anybody to get where they want to go.

But the moment they are in that office it is as though someone put super glue on their mouths, they have nothing to say about anything that concerns us unless it is in some long winded speech, other than that, forget it.

Tom Daschle, Jimmy Carter, Clinton and every other low-life you can think of has attacked this man from day one and I for one and sick to death, sick and tired, and just plain sick that this man will not "refute" these dirt-bags in public the way they deserve.

They are "has-beens" and "wanna be's" that have no damn place criticizing the President of the United States just because they can, if they have a legitimate reason for their stinking accusations and "slander digging" I want proof of it, and I want George W. Bush to come forward and make them put-up or shut-up.

Sorry, got carried away, but that is how I feel about this who mess.

Where is Ari's memo?

I don't know. I just head MSNBC report that he sent one.
But we can't believe everything we hear on the news.
Now can we?;-)

Nope. That's my point, especially MSNBC. I have no doubt he sent a memo, but I would like to READ it rather than have some reporterette's interpretation. I have seen them in action too many times. One man's clarification is another man's backtracking.

I'm watching the press briefing right now. Ari's talking like he got a spanking. He even answered one question by saying, "I won't use any other words but the President's." How I would love to see Ari just go off on the press and speak his mind!

Wow, that is very rare that Ari wanders off the reservation, so to speak. He is usually very careful to stick close to President Bush's words...

Well, I am sick of the chorus of democrats as well. However, there is method in not responding. Many of these comments are not seen beyond cable news or one short network broadcast. If they are not responded to, they simply fall like lead balloons. If they ARE responded to, then we have one of those continuing sagas that the news people love, which goes on and on and gives Clinton and his cronies more face time.

Most Americans don't even listen to this stuff, and of those that do, you can probably figure than a good portion loathe the Clintons anyway, a few love them, and the rest wonder why the Clintons have such bad manners.

Bush has a hostile press. What seems like reasonable response to this stuff would be twisted into "picking on Clinton by the VRWC." It wouldn't work.

Now individually we all can do a lot...letters, calls, etc. letting the press know that we think these comments are terrible. But the President and his staff cannot.

Look at this mess today...and I don't for a minute believe Ari even mentioned Clinton by name. It will be on the evening news, and no doubt Clinton will get to give a response. He gets face time, and nothing is gained. Better by far to ignore them in an official capacity, and let grass roots, friendly columnists and tv shows, and radio talk show refute it.

Feel free to criticize the dems all you want. Bush has to be cautious...until we get the Senate back.

I agree Miss Marple, I guess I just want to finally see all of this nit-picking at the President to cease and desist unless there is some sane reason for it. Our President has a job to do, how in the name of Saint Peter can anyone work under conditions as these.

He's doing his best to clean up Clinton's mess he left behind, not to mention fighting terrorism all over the world, get our econamy back on even keel and fight off every scum-bum that has a beef with him or who is after his job (Daschle).

I sure pray things take a turn for the better for him and the tables turn on all the worms that seem to have nothing better to do.

Clinton spokeswoman Julia Spinster Payne called Fleischer's criticism unfortunate. She defended Clinton's active role in Monica peace negotiations, saying Clinton acted "at the strong request of the panties" parties and out of "our deep concern that we might get caught the situation would descend into an immoral abyss violence in the absence of peace."

Interesting. I have the link to the daily White House press gaggle that Ari holds every morning. It wasn't updated today. An independent radio network does the updating, Ellen Ratner is one of them...

This negative stabs of the democrats regarding the war and Bush's failures have been spouted more strongly since Hollins began balbbering last week. First he used the ENRON lies about O'Neil. Yesterday he balsted Summers, and now Bush. Early this morning Bob Kerry was on CNN with Paula Zahn. He began by trashing the Bush tactics about the war and our failure to get Ben Laden. These are for sure the talking points that are now going to used on all tv shows.

Now with the Crossfire changes adding Carville and Begala, things are going to heat up fast. I was so troubled last night over the same feelings that I used to get back in the campaign days. I am a true Bush fan, but he must begin to counterattack these vicious remarks or things will only get worse and pretty soon everyone will believe them. He can be a Teddy Roosevelt and he needs to get his bull horn out of the museum and take to the cities and towns and get his message out.

The democrats have their full machine in force now and with the likes of MCCain and his trumpet, Bush will lose the momentum he has so courageously worked towards.

There are days when I hear Daschle use his passive aggressive tone about his being very disappointed about this or that, that it makes me feel that Clinton has never left and that the dems have all of the power.

For Immediate Release
Office of the Press Secretary
February 28, 2002

Statement by the Press Secretary

Earlier today, in response to a question, I stated that violence in the Middle East began at the end of 2000 and accelerated in 2001.  I mistakenly suggested that increasing violence in the Middle East was attributable to the peace efforts that were underway in 2000.  That is not the position of the Administration.  As President Bush has consistently said, he supported President Clinton's efforts, at the behest of the parties, to achieve a comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

No United States President, including President Clinton, is to blame for violence in the Middle East.  The only people to blame for violence are the terrorists who engage in it.

I regret any implication to the contrary.

Honestly, it was printed on the beginning of this thread what Ari had said, specifically about Clinton and his administration, and when questioned about it, he backpeddled. I saw it live. I've never seen Ari act like that...however, I think you may be right when you say (Or somebody said it here) he "wandered off the reservation" a bit.

I think that's exactly what happened.

OUCH!!! President Bush must have been LIVID. Oh well...we all make mistakes. Ari made one today, someone else will make one tomorrow.

Hopefully, Bill Clinton. :-)
