The CROSSFIRE shakeup is a direct challenge to CNBCMSNBC's HARDBALL.

I don't watch either one. Will I show up in the "polls"?

The one thing liberal news people never figure out is who are the members of the potential audience. They look at the numbers of citizens and see that about 1/3 are liberal voters and 1/3 are conservative voters and 1/3 are in the middle. They understand that those in the middle don't pay much attention to polictical shows. And they understand that Fox has gotten a lot of the right. They conclude that there is a big untapped audience on the left. There job is to get them to tune in. Ain't never going to happen.

The truth is the that 1/3 of the public that votes the straight Democratic ticket for the most part are not interested in politics or political shows at all. The typical Democratic voter works at the mill or the store, and votes the way the union steward or precinct boss tells him or her to vote. A small minority of Democrats are wealthy and educated. It is the poorly educated and disinterested individuals who make up the democratic core. The typical democratic voter pays zero attention to issues or personalities. They don't know the name of any politicians. It is like Alan Jackson admits. He doesn't know the differnece between Iran and Iraq. They think daschle blocking the stimulus package is what a crooked Jockey does down the stretch at the Kentucky Derby.

The majority of Democratic voters are not ever going to tune in to a political show. That leaves the potential audience for such shows as about 40 percent of the voters and 33 of the 40 percent are conservative.

Thus this move to put on CROSS FIRE, guys who can really win it for the left in an attempt to draw the left to view it, are doomed. The vast majority of left voters down't watch political TV or hear talk radio.

If you want to reach Democrat voters put on the WWF.

And you thought Ted Turner was clueless. CNN is clueless and getting more so.

By the way, given the choice between Press, Begala and Carville, just what are the deciding factors for CNN to consider?

Isaacson needs to rename the show "Judge Carville" if he has any hope of attracting the typical rat voter.

CNN should bring back the Cap Gang Sunday crew, that was a relatively balanced show, good actual debate as opposed to the preening and prattling, Kate O'bern excepted, on the current Capitol Gang.

Rick Kaplan killed the Sunday Cap Gang, along with the Lynn Cheney Sunday Crossfire.

Personally I am glad that Press is out. I find him to be totally obnoxious. Those other two will no doubt be also, but since I don't watch that show who cares.

Others will, and they will suck it up. Look at the voting public, not just what you think. You, and I are individual voters. There are others on this planet who are clueless... that's why they watch sitcoms.

CNN is like an alcoholic who is about to lose his job because of drinking. Instead of changing his behavior, he decides what he needs is just a little more of the same and downs a few shots before heading off to what will be his last day on the job.
