.I'll stick with the RSV (Catholic Edition)

Let me jump in. I think the "Living" versions are OK for a superficial read, but keep in mind that they are not translations (even so-called "dynamic/functional" translations), they are paraphrases.

I did not know that the RSV (copyright owned by the National Council of churches) made a "Catholic edition". But the new Catholic modern language version (I believe it is called the "American" something or other) is not bad. And it will be based on a better Greek text than the RSV which is now 50 years old (and that has been a pretty important 50 years).

The NIV is based on a good text but it is a dynamic/functional translation (ostensibly idea for idea) rather than a formal translation (word for word) so it is a little looser.

The RSV I have, was published by Ignatius Press.It was highly recommened to me by many "Orthodox" Catholics.
