This is one reason why I feel that these "games" should take place on base.

Spoken like a true liberal... Who gives a rat's ass what you "feel?" - How is that relevant? What do you know about training special operations forces? I'm guessing the answer is not much...

I am no great fan of cops, and generally respect the military, but unless this incident is being misreported, the two spec op guys tried to disarm the cop, and were not good enough. The cop, correctly seeing himself as under attack, took them both.

Running this kind of drill, where uninvolved civilians can get hurt and blunders like this can happen is either unprofessional macho bullshit or simple stupidity.

You tell me which.

Thanks for your enlightening comments Lou. Perhaps you could explain how this situation didn't reveal a problem. And when you've got this all squared in your own head, let the family members of this soldier know that you don't think we have a problem here at all. I'm sure they'll agree. I'm guessing you don't have much knowledge in the are you're addressing.

The fact remains that two men in civilian clothes tried to disarm a sheriff during the course of his duties. Even if the sherriff knew about the military excercise, how was he to know these men wearing civies were a part of it? Was he really supposed to allow himself to be disarmed?
