"Gareth Peirce, who is acting for the families of Shafiq Rasul and Asif Iqbal, both from Tipton in the West Midlands, accused Mr Rumsfeld of "horsetrading with human beings"."She said the prisoners were being unlawfully detained and there was growing evidence that they had been interrogated in a vulnerable and distressed state. Mr Rasul's family had received a letter saying he had lost three stone in weight.
So did Danny Pearl.
Screw them.

"Solicitor Louise Christian said: "This is very important, because if they are being recognised as prisoners of war they should be released immediately, as hostilities have now ceased."

Asked whether they would face the death penalty, Mr Rumsfeld replied: "Oh, sure."

Other detainees kept at the base could be tried by military commissions. Asked whether they would face the death penalty, Mr Rumsfeld replied: "Oh, sure."Hearing this makes my heart go pitter patter and I get a warm fuzzy glow.

I like Rumsfeld. He doesn't worry about being politically correct. He just tells the truth.
I'll bet his answer caused a lot of liberal brains to explode. Good man.

I criticizing Rummy too. I think when the questioning was finished the prisoners should have been shot at dawn.

"Mr Rasul's family had received a letter saying he had lost three stone in weight....." Well, the first 2 stones from his scrotum - didn't count for much....considering the moslem preference for young boys....
With all this talk about Military Tribunals and execution for those found guity of terrorist activity - will we EVER be seeing some firing squad activity?

The 22-year-old's handwritten letter, the first from a Briton held in high security at Guantanamo Bay, arrived on Thursday. Today, his mother, Zumrati Juma, is to make a public statement demanding that lawyers and medical experts be allowed immediate access to prisoners at Camp X-Ray. Her appeal is backed by the Law Society. Mrs. Juma can go stick it in her jumper for all I care. Her demon-spawn of a son sure got treated better than Danny Pearl. Her appeal and her limey Law Society means less than nothing in the eyes of the DoD. I hope her son gets shot trying to escape and that goes for all the Gitmo detainees.

Rumsfeld attacked over Cuba prisoners Ooohh, and what a terrible "attack" it was. It was roughly equivalent to a 7-year-old telling Rumsfeld, "You're a big butt!"

Solicitor Louise Christian said: "This is very important, because if they are being recognised as prisoners of war they should be released immediately, as hostilities have now ceased." After all of the detainees have been interrogated; let them keep their Koran; and release them two miles off the SE coast of Cuba.

Gareth Peirce, who is acting for the families of Shafiq Rasul and Asif Iqbal ... said the prisoners were being unlawfully detained and there was growing evidence that they had been interrogated in a vulnerable and distressed state. She's got balls alright, our Miss Peirce. If she were defending Richard Reid, she'd be asking for charges to be dismissed, and failing that, for him to be released on his own recognizance, pending trial.

"This is very important, because if they are being recognised as prisoners of war they should be released immediately, as hostilities have now ceased." What? The game is over, so put the checker board away?
I don't think this person knows what this war is.
When it slows down to a dull roar, we just don't tell the guys "Good war, thanks for playing. You can go now"
Geeeez !! Shouldn't the Muslim terrorists surrender first or something?

The US should slit their throats and be done with them.
