A conflicting version of the chilling murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Danny Pearl emerged Sunday, with Fox News Channel contradicting earlier reports that his execution was videotaped as it happened by kidnappers tied to the al Qaeda terrorist network.
"Contrary to prior reports Pearl is apparently not killed on camera," reported FNC's Rick Leventhal.
"There are several scenes spliced together on the three-and-a-half-minute digital tape. On one of them he is forced to make a statement during which he talks about his Jewish heritage."
Leventhal continued:
"Later there's a shot of a wound, some kind of knife wound in his chest. And later there is a scene of his throat being cut, although people who have seen this tape say it appears that Danny Pearl was already dead at that time."
Leventhal said that prior to his execution, in addition to acknowledging his Jewish heritage, Pearl was forced to say, "America will bear the consequences of our government's unconditional support for Israel."
When pressed for further details about the videotape, Leventhal said:
"We're being told that it was, in fact, edited together. It may have been a crude job. But certainly there is evidence on the tape that Danny Pearl was dead at the time that they cut his throat; that there's clearly a wound to his body.
"At one point on the tape, and later when they inflicted the rest of the damage to his body, there was no sign of life from Danny Pearl. So, apparently he was already dead at that time - but certainly a gruesome tape and one that has outraged authorities."
The FNC reporter did not identify his source for the new version of the Danny Pearl death tape.

And, as I said on another thread, I am not stupid enough to think there were no copies made. As gruesome as this was, the "peaceful" muslims will be hawking t shirts of Mr. Pearl, calendars and tapes of the heinous act. Islam is a religion of sharp knives and explosives.
Perhaps you did, but that doesn't mean that my kids need to see it.
It's not censorship if I don't want my kids to see it either. It's responsible parenting.
Actually it is censorship but it is also appropriate AND responsible parenting.
Of course not. Parents have every right to keep horrible images like this from their young children. There should be a warning to parents before this is shown. I have kids and would also be concerned if they viewed violent material. However, my son is almost 17 years old and he needs to know what this country may have to seriously be dealing with if he ever has to defend it.

I'm with you.
Therefore you and I must be sure to keep YOUR kids and YOU -- and me and mine -- away FRom YOUR television set -- and mine.
And we had just as surely had better not be putting you -- and me -- and gummint agents in charge of OUR television programs.
Deal?
Showing the tape would bring out the psychos, in the name of patriotism. I don't want that imho.
We are normal, but many are not. We have our share of psychotics and sleepers and I don't think we know where they are all located, but we know that they have tvs and tv tends to play stuff over and over again.
But one of the steep prices we have to pay in order to live in the only-ever Truly FRee Nation in the entire history of our species on this planet is that we will, as companions on our journeys through our lives, have some kooks psychotics and sleepers who simply cannot handle FReedom.
And as another of the steep prices we must pay is that we must not permit our liberty -- yours and mine and our children and our children's children -- to be in any way curtailed and/or proscribed in order that we relieve ourselves of the personal responsibility to be alert for and to the actions and activities of the few kooks psychotics and sleepers who simply cannot handle FReedom.
By agreeing, for example, that "they" may take away our Right to Choose what to watch on our TVs at some place other than at the dial on mine -- and at the dial on your's.

I heard a report that copies of the report are being sold on the streets of Pakistan.
There are pre-17 year-olds who collect videos of beheadings and maimings. His reaction might be "Man, that is so cool. "
