The Free Republic Network announces the formation of the First Amendment Action Network (FAAN) a project of the American Conservative Union and the Free Republic Network.

ACU and FRN have joined forces to bring you the latest information about grassroots activities going on in your area and broaden our mobilization efforts to protect the First Amendment and our Constitutionally-guaranteed right to Free Speech.

We hope that you will utilize the link below to join our efforts to stop the U.S. Congress from implementing unconstitutional campaign finance “reform” (CFR) legislation.

Once your logged in the FAAN you will have access to the latest information on CFR as well as the ability to post articles and comments and participate in discussion threads with conservatives from around the country.

While you’re there click on the ACU link to write a letter to your Senator telling them to stand up for the Constitution and stop CFR. This bill will go to the Supreme Court if it is passed, and IT WILL BE DECLARED UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Demand that your Senators do their job, and protect every American’s right to Free Speech.

Your country is depending on you! Yep, country, children, family, friends.....

Make no mistake- if this passes and the First Amendment falls, the Second will be right behind it.... when "they" have silenced you, and disarmed you, the rest of the BOR will follow.... and they'll put a Smiley-Face on all of it, to hide the skull...

That is exactly what I want Freepers to do. Join as one voice through FAAN and blast these bozos with phone calls and email till they get it through their thick heads that the American people will not stand for this.

You should ping the Tennessee Freeper list and call up the reinforcements to take on Frist and Thompson before it's too late.

This is to important an issue for ANYONE to ignore IJ and I am happy to be able to join with such an august group to do whatever I can to KILL this monster!

There are two things here that must be addressed or our Republic is finished IMHO!

We MUST stop this from becoming law AND we MUST make a maximum effort to remove EVERY ONE of those who voted for this so as to send the message that the days when one can violate his oath of office with impunity are now officially ENDED!

Disregard my previous post. I just read your #66 on the other thread. Like you, I have also put a lot of effort into this issue over the years and worked very hard to put the coalition together with the ACU and FRN.

I hope you'll do us the honor of joining the FAAN. We have 117 new members in 12 hours and growing by the minute.

Sorry, but I'm not going give up on the good thing that I've got (I think I heard that in a song once).

I wouldn't get too puffed up about Tom Davis if I were you. He has an ACU rating of 60% for 2001 and a lifetime average of 66%.

He may have gotten CFR right this time around but his Education votes (among others) make him a RINO of the first order.

But since we don't have a ballot box handy to toss him out of office right now, we'll just say "Thank You Mr. Davis" for his CFR vote and deal with him on other issues in November.

Agree completely, Bigun. This needs to be an effort just like the NRA usually carries out. It targets those lowlifes who would barter away our freedoms to buy themselves another term at the trough, and brings all their guns to bear to unseat them. We must not rest until we've hounded every one of these would-be tyrants from the political arena -- especially the ones who profess to be conservatives.

Excuse me. I've got two congressmen and two senators to un-elect.

I agree with your sentiments exactly. We must defend our liberty regardless of the costs. At a time when we can peaceably resist these attacks on our freedom, why would we choose to sit back and do nothing? My fear is that if this legislation passes and is signed into law, we will be witnessing the twilight of this Republic.

One battle at a time. Just as ACU works with the ACLU on occasion, I will work with Mr. Davis when he agrees with our position. However, you may rest assured that I will forever be vigilant on his votes and stances with regard to past and future legislation.

But the interesting thing about what Tom Davis said is that he believes this will actually hurt GOP moderates by giving them fewer avenues of support, and that parties protect democracy from "extreme" positions. Certainly as a conservative I think the GOP supports too many moderates! Lowry had a good article on this: Party On

Also, as head of the NRCC Davis is a really political guy, he is probably one of the few people who really understand what the bill does, and especially what the regulations that WON'T be thrown out by SCOTUS (because they don't deal with free speech, like jail time and coordination regulations) would actually do. Too bad Davis couldn't convince some of these other moderates as well.
