News Desk adds: Sources said the video tape received by the US Consulate a few days ago showed Pearl interviewing some one when an unidentified person pulled his head back from the hair and severed his head with a knife. The consulate was trying to establish veracity of the tape for the last few days. at the end if this story..HERE

Turning the other cheek is a sign of faith! If Christianity is based on the truth that Jesus is the Son of God and will return to rule forever then how can anything spell the doom of christianity? If however you believe christianity can be destroyed then you really have no need of it, indeed you make it that it has need of you.

Turning the other cheek isn't about "faith" that things will work out in the end. It is about showing your enemies compassion and refusing to lower yourself to their level.

If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic.(Luke 6:29)

Jesus died on a cross, why didn't He struggle and fight and resist His 'doom'?

His death was assured, although muslims don't believe that he was crucified or resurected (another difference between Chrisitanity and Islam - muslims like to proclaim that the religions are really quite similar except they deny that Jesus was man and yet God at the same time, they deny that he was killed, they deny that he rose again - take all of that away and he's just a "real nice guy"; a guy that the muslims don't seem to spend much time trying to emulate).

Did they do the same with Perl? Was a alive when they decapitated him?

I don't know exactly what happened to Perl. Some reports say severed. Others say just his throat was slit.

There's a lot of precident for them videotaping a live man being decapitated. There are a number of links to articles on different victims carried here on FR.

Just slitting his throat is unlikely but not impossible. Early reports did mention decaptiation. Some other governments have shown such videos in the past.

I'm disgusted that the press is detailing all sorts of horrendous acts committed by Andrea Yates against her children (new details every day) and yet they are being tight lipped on this murder that was directed at America (and that foreign travelling Americans could be subjected to).

Just please tell me why there has not been one muslim leader or muslim cleric unequivocally condemn the acts of terrorists which the terrorists themselves claim to perpetrate in the name of islam? Where are their peace loving faces on the nightly news? Where are the immams of mecca exorting the mass of circling idiots to be peaceful? Excellent point. They kill when someone doesn't have a religion that suits them but then turn around and expect us to admire their hideous barbaric religion and blood thirsty god.

You might want to visit kavkaz.org and read up - somewhere on their site is a comprehensive analysis of beheading in the islamic tradition. Something about your post here made me think you may be interested in it. I tried to find it to post the link but cannot get the site to come up today.

The part I had found was all about whether or not it was ok to put the head somewhere different than the body once you removed it. It was unreal. They spent a huge page on a detailed analysis, with lots of historical examples, about what was ok to do with the head and what was not. I'll keep trying to get it up and post it.
