I appreciate your effort at impartiality. Rest assured that if I should ever disagree with the President I would address my concerns to him. I would not air them in public and certainly not while we are at war.
I would submit to you that this war effort is going to continue on for the rest of your life. Terrorism has a nasty habit of continuing despite efforts to extinguish it. Just ask Israel. Would you suggest we refrain from keeping our eyes on our President for years to come?
Do you feel that it is improper to speak frankly and honestly about public matters?
I don't attack your loyalty to our nation in times of conflict, but to carry your dedication to the ultimate conclusion would be to completely cancel any attempt at oversight.
And should events warrant, we would even be forbidden to talk about problems in public. I don't think that is what our forefathers envisioned.
