Bush Administration Lawyers Defending Hillary - Gratis
NewsMax ^ | 2/21/02 | Limbacher

If there ever was a vast right wing conspiracy, this much is now clear: it certainly never included President Bush - whose Justice Department is now defending New York Sen. Hillary Clinton in a lawsuit brought by Clinton White House whistleblower Sheryll Hall and Judicial Watch.

Over their objections, "the Bush Justice Department represents Hillary Clinton in this lawsuit free of charge, saying that it is in its 'discretion' to represent private parties," the legal watchdog group said in a press release Wednesday.

Hall was the White House computer expert who alleged that Mrs. Clinton was part of a conspiracy to force her out of her job after she told investigators about a data base compiled on the former first lady's instructions that illegally used White House social lists for Democratic Party fund-raising.

Hall also exposed the White House e-mail scandal, where millions of subpoenaed e-mails on some of the most serious Clinton scandals were withheld from investigators.

But despite her heroic efforts to expose Clinton White House wrongdoing, Justice Department lawyers were arguing against Hall yesterday - and instead for Hillary Clinton, a sight that was nearly too much to take for Judicial Watch Chairman Larry Klayman.

"I had to shake my head in wonderment at the sight of the Bush Justice Department working hand in hand with the DNC to defend the Hillary Clinton-led conspiracy to use the White House computer systems for illegal fund-raising," he complained.

"Rather than improperly giving Hillary Clinton free legal representation in this private lawsuit, the Bush Justice Department ought to be prosecuting her for this illegal database and retaliation."

I tune my TV with a coat hangar and catch only the Simpsons and Malcom in the Middle on a regular basis.

Excellent choices, but make sure you start catching "The Family Guy" too, before those cretins at Fox cancel it. It's a lot better/funnier than the Simpsons.

They're both populated by a bunch of political hacks who stand for nothing but their own self-interest.

Not true! They also care about covering for each other! Oh,they might make some minor accussations back and forth, but they are just acting like professional wrestlers "working he crowd" when they do this. No way in hell is any powerful politician from either branch of the party going to allow another senior member of their private club to get in any REAL trouble.

She should NOT be free from legal action.

Maybe, but Bubba-2 is going to make damn sure nothing bad happens to her. He wants her to be nice to him when she replaces him in 2004.

Thank you Mr. Smith. Japedo and I came to the conclusion that (a)being the wife of the president (b)her appointment to look into health care (a paid position, I believe) and (c)the fact that she is an attorney/officer of the court entitled her to some protection for DOJ. What I have been unable to figure out though, is why she should be entitled under to it under nation security? Perhaps because she is a Senator?

Dixie...to be honest..I am sick and tired of Klayman and his "legal interests". To be honest he hasn't done a damn thing...and won't do damn thing except use his LEGAL firm to go around smear people's names and create conflicts of interests so he can continue to keep HIS name in the press.

Name any frigging thing that P.O.S. has done for the American public except crap in the punch bowl, stir it and point out to everyone that there is a turd is in the punch bowl! DO we really NEED this, today in American politics, from yet ANOTHER shyster lawyer? I certainly HOPE not...BUT the media loves it...therefore IF you love Klayman, YOU indeed LOVE the media!

Pooh! You know how I feel about Klaymouth. He doesn't impress me in the least. I only know one other lawyer that had to have a bodyguard and that was because Gerald was such a wimp, he was afraid of his own shadow. I don't trust people who elevate themselves above everyone else. Makes you wonder what their agenda is.

This article though, aggrevated a number of people - Hillary as usual using the government for her own ends. Klayman just happened to be the one interviewed.

Gee Sass, your A,B, and C are all wrong!
Sorry, it's my fault, I put too nuch in my quote from the court!
The Bush DOJ is only defending the case under 516- "general national interest".

All the other reasons were dropped.

The reason the case is of "national interest" to the administration is because it is a Civil Service employment matter: that Civil Service employees must take their complaints before the Civil Service Review Board- not a court.
It would seem, given the circumstances, that Cheryl could make claims under other law- I don't know why she hasn't -or wasn't able to- maybe Reno has stalled things past a statue of limitation.

It's interesting that Clinton dropped her "federal employee" claim that she first used (citing the DC Circuit ruling that she was an emloyee in the Health Care Task Force case).
If she was an employee she would have had to have made ethical disclosures that she refused to make to Amato's Whitewater committe- by claiming that she wasn't an employee!

"I had to shake my head in wonderment at the sight of the Bush Justice Department working hand in hand with the DNC (AV note...is this an opinion he has conviently turned into a conspiratorial fact!) to defend the Hillary Clinton-led conspiracy (AV note...is this a fact or another JW allegation/fact?) to use the White House computer systems for illegal fund-raising," he complained.

Klayman is a whiner...plain and simple...he has spread himself so thin with lawsuits...he actually looks silly.

BTW maybe by DEFENDING Hillary (Klayman's description not mine) JUST maybe the WH and their team can get a better glimpse of WHAT actually happened.

Klayman is just a pup on the porch wishing he was with the BIG dogs.

Klayman is beginning to look more like Johnnie Cochran everyday.

REGARDLESS OF KLAYMAN'S MOTIVES OR CREDIBILITY, BUSH HAS APPARENTLY GONE OUT OF HIS WAY TO THWART ANY MEANINGFUL INVESTIGATION, ALWAYS SENDING TALKING HEADS TO THE MEDIA TO SAY THAT " THE PRESIDENT JUST WANTS TO PUT THIS BEHIND US" OR "IT IS TIME TO MOVE ON"......BULLCRAP! I WANT JUSTICE.

"I find it interesting that those on this thread supporting the administration's position were quick to turn the focus of this thread onto Larry Klayman and Judicial Watch."

And they never answer the claims they make that are rebutted. Such as "How many Convictions has Klayman gotten?" -- the answer being "JW/Klayman doesn't have Prosecutoral power, he can only bring Civil suits". Then the fact that the entire Government Apparatus is aligned against them, is ignored. I'd say JW and Klayman are Fighting the Good Fight, and deserve both Moral and Financial support. (watch the attacks on the financial comment;-)

Klayman's going to do nothing, huh? So, what's the solution? You Bush promoters were telling us that Bush was the answer when he was running. Turns out you were wrong. Who will bring the Clintons to justice? Your boy hasn't the stomach for it obviously.

Why don't you folks explain to the rest of us how things are going to change by voting in more treacherous republicans who are incapable of doing anything other than this kind of crap once they're in office?

Yeah, shake those pompoms. Rah-rah BUSH!

Ultimately by fiercely protecting the Clinton's, Bush is protecting himself. Too much of Clinton's dirty laundry, including money laundering, also opens too many Pandora's boxes for Bush.

Yup,dey all be in bidnez together. See your new Bubba? He's the same as your old Bubba.

"The President's Justice Department shut down Chinagate investigations..."

Which country is currently the main supplier for the weapons we fear most to the destructive nations we are now dealing with?

Why shouldn't that information be exposed to America?

I'm vehemently opposed to this cover-up no matter who's in the White House. If we are to be any different than liberals, we must stand on principle instead of basing our decision on whether or not "our guy" is the current occupant. We must, folks.

What nonsense. The Civil Service act contains no provision for "defacto" employees. A person has been hired under the terms of the act or has not been hired, there is no virtual employee provision. Also, federal employment isn't sexually transmitted from husband to wife. Even if it were, Hillary wouldn't have been qualified to be viewed as a federal employee.

If the DoJ under Ashcroft is taking this same position, then something is definitely wrong. It isn't the job of the DoJ to follow old cases from court to court in the interest of preserving an earlier ruling. If you think it is their job to do so, you are probably a DoJ employee yourself.
