Terrorist's Body Wrapped In Pigskin

"Residents of Gush Katif decided to take matters into their own hands," said local Rabbi Yosef Al-Nekaveh yesterday, "and when we were involved in evacuating the bodies of the three murdered Israelis [at the Kisufim attack this past Monday night], they placed pig fat and pigskin on the body of the dead terrorist."

He said that a "right-wing kibbutznik" had supplied them with the swinish tissues.

Arab MKs responded with outrage. Ahmed Tibi said, ""This is a pig-like act of a man who is not worthy of being a rabbi," while Abdel Malek Dahamshe added, "The ethical inferiority and lowliness that the settlers have reached is intolerable.

This is an act of first-degree desecration of God's name... It is especially shocking to think that a rabbi did this."

On the other side of the spectrum, MK Tzvi Hendel said, "If these primitive murderers stuff their brains with nonsense about Paradise and who-knows-how-many virgins waiting only for them, then they certainly believe in the other nonsense that being buried with pigskin blocks their way to Paradise."

Looks like we've found a soft spot in the pork-belly of Islamic terrorism! Can this is be a credible deterrent?

One wag (wise guy?) I know suggested we fly a large pig in every flight instead of marshals as this would be a serious deterrent to would-be suicides trying to blow themselves and the plane up!

This is generally attributed to Blackjack Pershing, though some of his personal letter seem to indicate that he would not do such a thing, and was actually quite fond of the Moros he was charged with defeating. There was a huge amount of documentation posted to an earlier thread a few months ago.

http://www.snopes2.com/rumors/pershing.htm has some information about this, but is inconclusive. Typing 'pershing' and 'pigskin' into a search engine such as google might find something for you.

Do you remember the scene in Hannibal? Where the wheelchair guy fed people to the pigs? A fitting retaliation for the intifada.

Corky's is great! I stop at the one in Murfreesboro, across from Sam's Club, from time to time.

Interesting. Overall, the history is inconclusive. The same evidence that leads Snopes.com to believe it didn't happen just as easily persaudes me that it did. Pershing may have been very reluctant to use force to control the Moros, but he clearly did when required to do his job, and using pigs could have been a very effective way to reduce the amount of force needed, ultimately sparing more Moro lives.

I wouldn't go just on the snopes info. Do a search on free republic (good luck, though. there have been many posts on this subject)

Nice to see the "moderate", "civilized" MKs defend the sanctity of their terrorists...maybe they should be wrapped in pig skin too. After all, Pershing used the same tactic to break the Islamics in the Phillipine colonies.

Corky's is great, isn't it? I'll wait 90 minutes for a table when in Memphis, and I'll skip lunch, too. I get Corky's on the Brain when I know I'm going there for dinner. Hard to concentrate.

Indian Mutiny, Sepoy Rebellion, Mutiny at Oudh, Siege at Lucknow

The projectile for the new Enfield rifle was part of a self-contained paper cartridge that contained both ball and powder charge. It required only the end to be bitten off and the cartridge then rammed down the muzzle of the weapon. To facilitate this process the cartridge was heavily greased - with animal fat. Sepoys heard and quickly passed on the rumour that the grease was a mixture of cow (sacred to Hindus) and pig (abhorrent to Moslems) fat. Biting such a cartridge would break the caste of the Hindu sepoys and defile the Moslems. The British realised their mistake and tried to have the sepoys make up their own grease from beeswax or vegetable oils, but in the atmosphere of distrust that prevailed in 1857 the damage had been done. The stage was set for a great tragedy to unfold.

Though the Mutiny dragged on for almost two years it was effectively fought and won in a six-month whirlwind of murder, siege, atrocity, forced marches, heroism, savagery and brutality. Women and children were butchered by both sides. Great cities were sacked and the British armies which swept across the north of India to relieve their besieged comrades and avenge their murdered compatriots were perhaps the most enraged and cruellest troops ever to have been put in the field by the government and people of Britain.
