..... but then the model for the statue was significantly different. Rather than depicting the 3 firefighters who raised the flag that day and were captured on camera, some genius decided that it would be politically incorrect to show three white men. So the statue was changed to depict a white man, an African-American, and a Hispanic man. And the whole configuration was changed. The positions of the 3 firefighters in the model is completely different ...... it really loses all the emotion of the day ..... thus defeating the purpose of memorializing the moment.
Many people feel that a memorial to all the rescue workers and victims, depicting people of all races as well as showing police and other rescue workers, would be quite appropriate ..... but that it should be an entirely different statue ...... not a weak, uninspiring version sort of like that famous picture. If it is to depict that scene, it should depict it like it happened ..... not some watered-down, PC version just to suit the social engineers of the day. History should be depicted as it happened, not like the PC crowd wishes it had happened.
This has nothing at all to do with when, if, or how the WTC is rebuilt.
Oh... I thought it was about rebuilding the WTC. Sorry.
