Estimated 20,000 Orthodox Jews demonstrating on Tuesday February 12th, in front of the Israeli Consulate in New York City, organized by the Central Rabbinical Congress of USA and Canada, to voice their opposition to the existence of the state of Israel, their suppression of religion and brutal treatment of religious people.
The posters read as follows: [L-R] "Israel" dos not represent world Jewry
Rabbinical leaders fought Zionism since its inception
Authentic Rabbis always opposed Zionism and the State of Israel
Zionism have no right to rule over any part of the holy land
No doubt! Herzl's dream was a catastrophe for Jews
Zionism stole the name of Jews
"Israel" dos not represent world Jewry
Jews mourn 53 years existence of "Israel"
True Jews will never recognize Israel
Torah Jewry is united against Zionism & the State of Israel
Zionist ideology opposes the Creator
Oh No! Zionism will never succeed
We are against "Israel" because we are Jews
Zionism and Judaism are extreme opposites
Background sign: Israeli government: stop oppressing religious Jewry in the State of Israel
Yes, this group -- being Jewish -- is "insane" for criticizing Israel.
This simply is the first deviation from your usual Opinion that all criticism of the State of Israel is somehow "anti-semitic".
I'm simply wondering if these are the only two categories into which you assign all criticism of the State of Israel.
Surely you realize you are regarded as a premiere poster on all threads relating to Israel and Zionism, Veronica, and your Opinion carries a special weight that of others does not.
That's why it's important you answer my question.
They deny the right of Israel to exist? That does surprise me. (I could see their having a problem with a secular state, I guess. Seems to corrupt a faithful people as a rule.)
But on what grounds do they object? (Rabbinic prohibitions against the hastening of Redemption or what?)
Please do not give my posts any special significance or importance. I am just a humble poster. My views carry no more weight than the views of many other informed posters here.
(8) The policy of draining the Slavic world of its brains ...from this site ... about which I know absolutely nothing.
Anti-Semitic, no. Screwballs, yes. And not just because they are anti-Zionist. Nor are they "typical" Orthodox.
Visit their website, you'll see what I mean.
Don't be so modest, my dear.
If you are comfortable opining -- with all authority -- on the "insanity" (in the case of Jews) or "anti-semitism" (in the case of Gentiles) of anyone who dares criticize the State of Israel, it's possible YOU are the one giving yourself way too much credit.
It's a simple "Yes" or "No" question, Veronica.
Is there any room for criticism of the State of Israel that is not either "insane" (in the case of Jews) or "anti-semitic" (in the case of Gentiles).
In your most prescient and authoritative Opinion, of course.
Perhaps they're more sane that you -- or Veronica -- give them credit.
I'll keep reading. Thanks for the reminder to check out their site for myself.
Your humility is stunning, if not misplaced.
While in college, I found myself in an argument with a feminist type. She insisted that the faults found in men (violence, general criminality, substance abuse, etc...) were immutable, whereas the faults found in women (low achievement in the sciences, musical composition, spatial awareness, etc...) were societal in cause.
Frustrated, I asked her "Is there any affliction on womanhood that can't be explained away by our patriarchal society?"
"Of course" She replied. "Women are too logical, too kind, too peaceful, too civilized..."
I'd say they are the Jewish Taliban. I am Orthodox and have spent a lot of time in Meah Shearim (one of the neighborhoods in Jerusalem where "Neturei Karta" hang out.) A family member got into a conversation with one of them, and was told that it is a sin to support the Zionist government in any way, shape or form. My relative asked the NK guy if he had any cash, could he change a 50-shekel bill? The NK guy said, "sure!" and whipped out a wad of "Herzls". So my relative said, Zayer medinah is nit kosher ober zayere gelt yoh? (The Jewish State isn't kosher but you take their money?????)
The "Neturei Karta" will never, ever join the secular Israeli leftists in their demonstrations, because they hate each other's guts, but suf kol suf (bottom line) they are opposite sides of the same phony coin. They and the secular leftists are both driven by the same poisonous hatred of their fellow Jews--each other--to the point they would prefer to see Israel destroyed.
The Talmud says, The Holy Temple was destroyed because of causeless hatred and I think the "Neturei Karta" and their mirror images on the left are a perfect illustration of this.
Veronica is the brunette on the right (of course!)
But my question asks for only a
or
I can think of several, but I do not want to be banned. Let's just say they are "useful idiots".
To a certain extent, yes.
I would not give them a free ride on the "pro-Semitic" wagon, Veronica. Their hatred of the secular state of Israel is just one facet of their posture. If they fail the test of Ahavas Yisrael, then part of the reason they failed may be anti-Semitism.
