It is an interesting coincidence but it's the first I've heard of it and I try to catch anything of this story from local news, paper, etc.
However, I did think the other day that I have never heard either Brenda or Damon mention prayer or God. It may be that I've simply missed it, but nonetheless haven't heard anything resembling faith.
I thought it strange when the cameras caught Damon returning from his desert search yesterday (can't help but think of OJ looking for the REAL killer) that he was very flippant and said something like, "Nope....nothing. We didn't find anything." Then he took a few steps and said, "I wish this whole thing was just over with."
I know it is easy to read all sorts of things into every word and movement, but it seems more than an odd statement and attitude of a "grieving" and "concerned" father.
Even if the van Dams are not found to be responsible, their behavior will always be suspect, IMHO.
Sounds more to me like he did the desert search just to please the media (just like you said, OJ looking for the "real killer"). OK, we all react differently to tragedy and stress, but most men I know would have come back obviously agitated and upset, crying even, that she still hasn't been found. Wishing "this whole thing was just over with" - again (reaction statement), but over with? I hope he means, "I hope we find Danielle soon", and not "this is such a waste of time - why don't you all get out of my front yard?"
Agreed.
