Assemblyman MOUNTJOY opposes promotion of homosexuality in public schools.
Letter sent to GrandMoM | February 8, 2002 | DENNIS MOUNTJOY-California Legislature

Posted on 02/12/2002 3:28:27 PM PST by GrandMoM

THE FOLLOWING IS A LETTER I RECEIVED FROM ASSEMBLYMEMBER DENNIS MOUNTJOY REGARDING ASSEMBLY BILL 1326
Dear Concerned Grandparent:

Thank you for writing to me regarding your support for my nine-word bill,Assembly Bill 1326, which reads:"The promotion of homosexuality in public education is prohibited."This measure would have prohibited the promotion of homosexuality in public education. Unfortunately, the Assembly Education Committee defeated AB 1326 on January 16. All four Republicans present voted in support. Eight Democrats voted in opposition. A copy of the votes is enclosed

A Los Angeles Unigied School District (LAUSD) teacher testified in support of AB 1326. He explained and displayed the materials he has collected under court order that were being used for LAUSD's "Models of Pride 2" diversity training. Believe me when I tell you that this material is grossly inappropriate to be used in our schools under the guise of "safety" or "diversity" training or anything else. In my view, the material is pornographic and obscene.

I believe government schools should focus their energies on teaching our children to read, to write, to understand mathematics, to think and to analyze. Schools should not seek to use our schools as vehicles for social engineering.

I am very concerned about the direction government school curriculum is headed. Last year's Assembly Bill 1785 (Chapter 955, Statytes if 2000) requires schools to teach sexual orientation as a form of diversity. This year's AB 1434 proposed authorizing payment to outside "organizations" to teach K-12 students diversity. Under AB 1434, diverse sexual orientations, such as trans-sexuality, could be taught to children as normal and healthy.

Late last year, Superintendent of Public Instruction Delaine Eastin created a 38 member task force to draft recommendations and strategies for implementing AB537 (Chapter 587, Statutes of 1999). Interestingly, Mike Marshall, the task force co-chairman, also serves as Executive Director of the San francisco Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center.

Assembly Bill 537 proposes teaching our children diversity in order to create "safe schools." The AB 537 Task Force met in several secret sessions. They drafted a set of 12 recommendations to implement AB537. Under these recommendations, all State curriculums will be change to include alternative sexual lifestyles. In other words, literature, math word provlems, health and social studies classes, as well as other subjects will be tailored to positively protray homosexuality, bisexuality and transgenderism. The California Department of Education is poised to adopt these recommendations as administrative regulations to be followed in every K-12 public school. You can access the recommendations at the following site: http://www.cde.ca.gov/spbranch/safety/ab537/report.pdf

One of the recommendations urges the Department to "create positive, grade-appropriate visual images that include all sexual orientations and gender identities" for use in schools.

I have enclosed a copy of my AB press release, a list of the books approved by LAUSD for use in their diversity training, a page listing the members of the Assembly Education Committee and how you can contact them. I hope you will take the time to view these books and to write to the members of the Assembly Education Committee voicing your opinion on their AB1326 votes.

If you are as concerned as I am, I encourage you to go to your local school district and check out the materials being used for their diversity training or gay/lesbian appreciation days or weeks.

If you think the information is inappropriate, please let your school board know immediately.

Sincerely, Dennis Mountjoy

Are People "Born Gay?"
A look at the most cited biological research studies

"Born gay." The idea that homosexuality is genetic, or at least biologically predetermined and unchangeable, has received a great amount of media coverage presenting it as "new scientific fact." What is often not known is that this "born gay" idea is not new, not proven, and frequently contradicted by what the researchers actually said. At least as far back as 1899, German researcher Magnus Hirschfeld regarded homosexuality as congenital - meaning, "born that way" - and he asked for legal equality based on this thinking.

Now, a century later, the idea that homosexual persons are born that way has again received a great amount of media attention. As new research studies were published, the popular press presented these as evidence that people are "born gay" and that sexual orientation is therefore unchangable. What has been quietly happening, though, is that the "science" behind this idea is falling apart. Here we briefly examine the three most cited studies, from Simon LeVay, Michael Bailey & Richard Pillard, and Dean Hamer.

Governor’s Commission Lies Continually About ‘Safety’ and ‘Suicide’

(Homosexuals Recruit Public School Children)

"Safety
A speech by a homosexual activist in 1995 revealed that he had used "safety" to delude Gov. Weld and the state legislature into adopting the homosexual agenda for the schools of Massachusetts. The speech was titled Winning the Culture War and was given by Kevin Jennings, Executive Director of the "Gay and Lesbian and Straight Teachers’ Network," at the "Human Rights Campaign Fund Leadership Conference" on March 5, 1995.

"If the Radical Right can succeed in portraying us as preying on children, we will lose. Their language ‘promoting homosexuality’ is one example is laced with subtle and not-so-subtle innuendo that we are ‘after their kids.’ We must learn from the abortion struggle, where the clever claiming of the term ‘pro-life’ allowed those who opposed abortion on demand to frame the issue to their advantage, to make sure that we do not allow ourselves to be painted into a corner before the debate even begins.

"In Massachusetts the effective reframing of this issue was the key to the success of the Governor’s Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth. We immediately seized upon the opponent’s calling card safety and explained how homophobia represents a threat to students’ safety by creating a climate where violence, name-calling, health problems, and suicide are common. Titling our report "Making Schools Safe for Gay and Lesbian Youth," we automatically threw our opponents onto the defensive and stole their best line of attack. This framing short-circuited their arguments and left them back-pedaling from day one.

"Finding the effective frame for your community is the key to victory. It must be linked to universal values that everyone in the community has in common.

"In Massachusetts, no one could speak up against our frame and say, ‘Why, yes, I do think students should kill themselves’: this allowed us to set the terms for the debate.

"In Massachusetts, we made creating an environment where youth could speak out our number one priority. We know that, confronted with real-live stories of youth who had suffered from homophobia, our opponents would have to attack people who had been victimized once, which put them in a bully position from which it would be hard to emerge looking good. More importantly, we made sure these youth met with elected officials so that, the next time these officials had to vote on something, there would be a specific face and story attached to the issue. We wanted them to have an actual kid in mind when they had to cast their votes. We won the vote in the Senate 33-7 as a result..."

Research Group Warns Schools of Homosexual Propaganda

(Free Republic thread)

"Schools should let their students know that the differences between the homosexual and heterosexual cultures are many and profound, contrary to assertions by homosexual advocacy groups who seek to portray homosexuality as something innate and essentially without risk, a leading psychological group said.

Indeed, a same-sex male couple rarely stays together if the partners are not open to permitting each other to have outside sexual contacts, the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) said in a recent mailing to 15,300 public school superintendents around the United States.

The mailing "seeks to correct the misinformation that is being promoted by these homosexual advocacy groups that have an incredible influence on the public education system," said Dr. Joseph Nicolosi, president of NARTH and a proponent of reparative therapy for homosexuals who want to change.

"What we're trying to say to school supervisors is, 'don't just rely on pro-gay information sources to make your decisions.' All our stuff is well grounded scientifically," he said. NARTH is a non-religious scientific organization whose 1,000 members include psychologists, psychiatrists and therapists..."

Lawmakers target 'homosexual agenda', by Tracy Schmaler, Vermont Press Bureau Rutland Herald, February 14, 2001:

"MONTPELIER - A group of lawmakers don't want Vermont teachers telling students it's OK to be gay.

Concerned that students in the state are being exposed to a dangerous message under the guise of tolerance and diversity, 32 House members proposed a bill Tuesday that would prohibit teachers and other school officials from "encouraging, promoting or sanctioning homosexual or bisexual conduct."

"The schools in the first place should not be getting up to talk about homosexual issues," said Rep. Nancy Sheltra, R-Derby, a leading opponent of civil unions and a chief sponsor of the measure. "It's an academic setting, there's no reason it should be discussed."

Sheltra and Rep. Carl Haas, R-Rutland City, are the lead sponsors of the proposal that has attracted the support of all of the Republicans in the Rutland City delegation. Other Rutland area legislators on the list of co-sponsors are Republican Reps. Kevin Mullin of Rutland Town, Joseph Baker of West Rutland, Robert Weeks of Wallingford and Robert Helm of Castleton.

The measure limits what school officials would be allowed to say in the classroom on the subject of homosexuality. "No employee or agent of a school district shall instruct, counsel or advise a student that a homosexual or bisexual orientation is innate or unchangeable," the bill states.

The bill does include provisions that would allow the discussion of homosexuality during lessons on AIDS education and human sexuality, as well as guidance counseling sessions as long as that instruction or counseling included "warnings about the serious health risk associated with such behavior," the bill said. The drafters also made note that the bill does not mean to limit a student's freedom of speech or association by regulating what school officials could say..

"I think the homosexual agenda uses issues like diversity and tolerance to get into the classroom," Sheltra said. "I strongly disapprove that children who are (questioning their sexuality) are not told that they can get counseling. I believe it's because of the agenda. These kids should be counseled that they can work through it, they can get help..."

Angry Parents Clash with Superintendent Over Indoctrination of Children

"...Another resident with two children in the schools, Glen Parker, demanded to know why the superintendent spoke to the press before he ever spoke to parents. "As far as I'm concerned, I haven't gotten any answers," he said, adding that he was at the last meeting and was told, "I don't know," three times by Devine. "Now you are basically telling us that this curriculum is being eliminated, you're waving good-bye, and that's the end of it. It's not the end of it. There are certain policies that parents are very concerned about."

Parker continued by pointing out that Superintendent Devine said at both meetings that no graphic language was used in Hoyle's classroom, yet he said something different to the press. Parker said he spoke to several kids who were in Hoyle's class, who told him about inappropriate language that was used. He asked what kind of follow-up was done by administrators after they knew about the language use and after administrators knew "what the agenda of the teacher had to be, by looking at the workshop that she had been involved in at Tufts University. There's no other way I can explain it other than to say if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck, it must be a duck. I have nothing against Ms. Hoyle personally, but if she's promoting something that's offensive to me and the way I'm bringing up my children, then I have a right to know about it." "Where have any facts come up from Dr. Devine's 'investigation' to refute any of the allegations that were in [Massachusetts News]? We haven't heard one bit of evidence. They listed everything in detail that happened. All we got [from the school authorities] was that it was ... written by a right-wing nut who had an agenda. But nobody wanted to deal with the facts that were in the article, which scares me because nobody really wants to address the truth..."

Only Gays Come to Unitarian Meeting About Acushnet

"It was billed as, "A Response to Acushnet's Middle School Controversy." Two hundred letters were sent out by gay activists to surrounding schools, inviting administrators and teachers to attend....

However, the meeting held last night by the Unitarian Church at their church in Fairhaven, which is next to Acushnet, amounted to about 50 disgruntled gay activists and Unitarian supporters.

The only controversy of the evening erupted after this reporter announced he was from Massachusetts News and asked for a show of hands from any parents whose children attend Acushnet's middle school.

Only three hands shot up. A group of people sitting together began shouting, "Leave here!" "Get out!" "Hater!" An audience member stood to challenge the shouters, reminding them that they were preaching tolerance and respect only moments before. One of the shouters then rose from his seat and stormed out of the building grumbling about "hate." The moderator quickly retrieved the microphone from this reporter and said the question was not appropriate..."

Doctor Gives Affidavit In Fistgate Case

Outlines the "significant medical and health risks" associated with what was taught to students at Fistgate.

"...As a practicing physician and member of the Physician Resource Council of the Massachusetts Family Institute, I object to information being presented to children and adolescents by educators intended to portray homosexuality as a healthy alternative lifestyle, while deliberately omitting or disregarding the significant medical and health risks inherent to homosexual sex and the gay lifestyle.

Under the rubric of diversity training, HIV prevention and "safer schools," the Massachusetts Department of Education has permitted the exposure of young students in public schools to sexually explicit, morally offensive, and medically risky material intended to encourage them to question, explore and expand their sexuality. These misguided efforts place young people at risk for the well known and sometimes life threatening consequences of homosexual sex and promiscuity, not the least of which are human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS)..."

Wilmington divided over sexuality item by Meggan Clark, Brattleboro Reformer, February 19, 2002

"WILMINGTON -- A town meeting article which would prohibit school employees from "encouraging, promoting or sanctioning homosexual conduct" has spurred a write-in campaign against one of the town selectmen who helped put it on the warning....

Duncan said Monday he asked the selectmen to put the question on the warning because "it was ... an opportunity to use one of the best vehicles for the purpose of gaining public opinion at town meeting."

He says he and several other parents in town are concerned that their children may be exposed at a very young age to sexually explicit materials that they're not emotionally mature enough to cope with, and that such an education may create more problems for children than it solves.

"It has absolutely nothing to do with acceptance or tolerance," he said. "It has to do with promoting a lifestyle that goes against what I would call the natural law of humanity in our schools." Duncan said that children who harass their peers for any reason -- from obesity to perceived homosexuality -- should be punished, but that children's questions about their sexuality should be dealt with in frank discussion with their parents, not in confidence with the guidance counselor....

"I don't think teachers should be telling their children to go to Outright Vermont and find out if they're homosexual or not," she said. "... We're stepping out on a limb when we decide we need to promote that kind of agenda in a classroom. We don't bring anybody into the schools to teach our kids to smoke or drink. Why would we bring someone into the school to promote a lifestyle that is proven to be very dangerous?"

She said that a guidance counselor approached by a student questioning his or her sexuality should contact the child's parents and let them know, "your daughter has come to me and said she's having these feelings," leaving further discussion to the parent and child..."

Lessons on homosexuality taking hold in U.S. schools By Carol Innerst, THE WASHINGTON TIMES

"...Kindergartners are learning about "homophobia" as lessons about alternative lifestyles and homosexuality appear in America's elementary schools -- often without parental knowledge....

But to Florida mother Jodi Hoffman, the results at the classroom level have been disastrous.

"Ninety-eight percent of parents out there have no idea what's going on in their schools," she says. "We know we've got a problem when they prosecute if you talk about God anywhere near a school, but it's OK to teach students that anal sex is an acceptable method of birth control." Mrs. Hoffman and her husband, Paul, have pulled their three children out of Broward County public schools and filed a class-action suit against the school board to stop what they call the board's promotion of homosexuality in sex education courses.

Among the Hoffmans' complaints: At one middle school, the school board allowed officials from a community organization to tell the children they would be lucky to be on the receiving end of oral sex and not to worry if their "cut-free" leg happened to be splashed with HIV-positive blood.

"I'm not a nut, I'm not a foaming religious right-winger or a fanatical bigot," Mrs. Hoffman says. "What I am is pro-parent and pro-family. I'm for my children. "Schools make the kids think about sex," she says. "When my daughter was 10, we opted her out of a sex education class and they put her in anyway."....

A Seattle school board member and official with the National School Boards' Association thinks third-graders are too young for a discussion of the pros and cons of homosexual marriage. "Third-graders should not be asked to contemplate something that deep and complex," says Michael Preston, chairman of the NSBA's Council of Urban Boards of Education. "I'm sure they should be allowed to marry, but I've come to that conclusion as an adult and it's not something I'd even care to think about as a third-grader."... "But you have to consider the age appropriateness of the subject matter. Young minds are sometimes like clay. We need to allow children to be children and not overly influence what they end up thinking about something."

In Montpelier, Vt., Joel and Felicity Bachman became upset when their daughter's high school sociology class was given materials that encouraged kids lacking in self-confidence to have sex with someone of the opposite gender to "build up their pleasure-giving abilities." "She also read that 'two lesbians make a more nurturing relationship than a heterosexual couple' because women are naturally more nurturing," the Bachmans say. At an unannounced school assembly, students were presented with a panel of all gays, lesbians and bisexuals who talked about how happy, healthy and productive they are. "Our daughter tells us that the 'in' thing at her high school now, if you're a girl, is to 'be' a lesbian," the Bachmans report in an e-mail posting. "If you show any sign of feeling anything but joy at the sight, you're homophobic."

One of the teachers videotaped in "It's Elementary" says that "even if you are against the lifestyle, it still needs to be addressed." Another teacher says she "has a problem" with parents who opt to take their children out of discussions of homosexuality. "You hear so many different things, the school needs to give us the facts so we can decide on our own," one eighth-grade girl concludes on the video..."

"Why Don't They Tell The TRUTH At School About Homosexuality?....

What You Can Do To Stop The Promotion Of Homosexuality In Our Schools....

How We Got Here

Revolutions don’t happen overnight. Homosexuality is being widely accepted in schools now by administrators, school boards and some parents and students because of diligent, aggressive people who believe it’s okay. Some work for large, well-financed national "gay" activist groups; others are local volunteers. Some are practicing homosexuals who are educators; others are their relatives or sympathizers.

Regardless, this process has happened because traditional-minded parents and communities weren’t watching closely enough, and many thought supporting homosexuality was part of being kind, compassionate and tolerant. Most people never thought it would get this far.

But it has gotten very far. When the facts are laid before average Americans, most are incredulous. It’s gone way beyond being civil and nice to people who are "different," as the activists claim. It’s at the point where school lessons portraying typical married parents with children are considered discriminatory in some communities. It’s at the point of defending the "rights" of students and teachers to be transvestites (cross-dressers). Entire school days or weeks are devoted in some schools to "celebrating" homosexuality-and all students must participate.

It’s at the point where traditional-minded parents and students can seldom voice objections. Why are people being silenced?..."

Homosexual convention targets grade-school kids

"...This year's conference theme, "Ending the Hate Beginning in School," highlights GLSEN's contention that teaching pro-homosexual lessons to young schoolchildren is an appropriate way to combat "homophobia" and "hatred" directed at homosexuals. But critics like Peter LaBarbera of the Americans for Truth Project, who led a pro-family coalition protesting the conference, said GLSEN's elementary school agenda "manipulates the minds of impressionable children."...

The Homosexual Lobby - Expanding the Purple Umbrella

"While we have been preoccupied with the dangers posed to our children by inanimate objects, namely guns, they were under a much more dangerous assault from animate objects, namely psychologists and psychiatrists...

Homosexuals are advancing a dangerous agenda, using the forces of government, the media, public schools and pseudo science as battering rams to break down traditional family values. They are mutilating the concept of Christian love by defining it as a moral imperative to embrace human depravity and tolerate wickedness.

Here are a few of the elements of the homosexual agenda: the right to marry someone of the same sex; the right to adopt and raise children; the repeal of sodomy laws; the enactment of hate-crime laws making crime against them more significant than crime against heterosexuals; affirmative-action status that gives them special protections against the attitudes of others; a special affirmative-action program for AIDS; a lowered age for legal consent of sexual behavior; access to the Boy Scouts of America; the pro-homosexual indoctrination of school children; and validation from every man, woman, child and institution in America that their flaws are virtues.

The homosexual community is consolidating its gains and expanding its purple umbrella to provide cover for other sexual disorientations such as transsexuals, transvestites and bisexuals. Are pedophiles next? Where does it end?

It is said that morality is about drawing lines between what is acceptable and what is not. It is time for some serious line-drawing in America."

Activists lure children into homosexual experimentation

"... Following in the destructive wake of such social infirmities comes yet another commotion that over the issue of sexual orientation. Homosexual activists have largely spent the 1990s manufacturing intense confusion about the cause and nature of their lifestyle.

What is the effect on children and teenagers when they are surrounded by a message that not only defends homosexuality as normal, natural and healthy, but recommends it as a sexual taste? Are young people being recruited into the homosexual lifestyle?

Confusing impressionable minds

Even in the best of times, young people very often find themselves confused about many issues not the least of which is sex. Whether it is part of the normal adolescent journey to sexual identity or a spin-off effect of the current debate over homosexuality, some young people do question whether or not they are heterosexual...

Obviously, this early period of confusion is a critical time for young people. But the resulting confusion created by homosexuals about sexual orientation adds to the sexual confusion of young people. And even more insidious is the manner in which homosexual activists take advantage of this confusion by enthusiastically encouraging young people to experiment with homosexuality.

In Northboro, Massachusetts, for example, parents of freshmen were stunned to discover that their kids had been invited by their high school history teacher to try homosexuality. History teacher Douglas Matthews an advisor to the school's "gay-straight" student alliance handed out a questionnaire that asked, "If you've never slept with a person of the same sex and enjoyed it, is it possible that all you need is a good gay lover?"

Homosexual porn via the classroom?

It may shock parents to learn that the nation's public school system is being used by homosexual activists as a conduit, herding confused children into the homosexual community. Under the guise of protecting homosexual teens, young people are given unrestricted access to homosexual groups. Once channeled there, however, there is no limit to the depths of same-sex debauchery to which teens may be exposed..."

Flooding the Schools With Propaganda - How Homosexual Activists Are Taking Their Messages to the Public Schools

(Free Republic Thread)

"You can forget trying to persuade the masses that homosexuality is a good thing. But if only you can get them to think that it is just another thing, with a shrug of their shoulders, then your battle for legal and social rights is virtually won." So wrote Marshall K. Kirk and Erastes Pill in Guide magazine, November 1987.

All too often, that battle, promulgated by homosexual activists, is being waged and won in area schools, according to veteran educator Dick Carpenter, Focus on the Family’s education policy analyst.

Carpenter told the crowd at a recent "Love Won Out" conference in Charlotte that schools across America are being flooded with literature, videos, and testimonials advocating the pro-homosexual perspective in public education... He said the pro-homosexual agenda has so invaded curricula that teachers are often forced to teach things with which they disagree or know to be false. And often, if they resist, they are labeled as "hate-mongers" or "homophobes." Using information from The Overhauling of Straight America, Carpenter revealed the tactics of homosexual activists who, he said, had gone to great lengths to spread inaccurate data in an attempt to portray homosexuals as victims and help give protectors a just cause.

He said homosexual organizations such as GLSEN (Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network) get a stronghold on school systems by volunteering to educate school officials about the need to pass non-discrimination policies in schools, to train teachers to prevent "anti-gay" name calling and to serve as community resources on sexual-orientation issues.

Once inside the door, activists proclaim myths about homosexuality as fact, encourage homosexual teachers to come out of the closet, and start as many Gay Straight Alliances as possible. These GSAs, billed as student clubs that help kids discuss sexuality issues, are in fact just another avenue for homosexual propaganda, Carpenter said.

He said activists also work to change district policies, sometimes in the name of “safe schools,” to offer specific protection to homosexuals, making it possible for the schools to quell all opposition to the lifestyle.

So what can parents do to keep their children from homosexual influences in school? Plenty, Carpenter said, beginning with talking with your child to make sure he gets information about sexuality from you and does not have to rely on his peers.

In addition, he suggested that parents get involved with what is happening at the school through volunteerism, talking with school leaders, etc., and that they take time to review curriculum or resources being used in class..."

TRUTH WITHOUT INTERRUPTION DAY-- APRIL 10

"On April 10, homosexual activists and their supporters will hold "Day of Silence" events on high school and college campuses throughout the country, sponsored by GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network.(For more details, see www.dayofsilence.org.) It will be a silent vigil and the usual victimhood and "gay" rights claims. Participants will hand out material promoting homosexuality, bisexuality and cross-dressing.

How would you like to hold a counter-event the same day? We are calling it the Truth Without Interruption Day! Finally - a chance to get a word in edgewise!

If you'd like to organize one at your school, see below. You'll find links to: Talking Points (feel free to print this off and hand out); Tips for Organizing a TWID event; and a sample news release.

A list of the high schools that have registered with GLSEN to hold DOS events is at the end. If your school does not appear, it doesn't necessarily mean they aren't having a pro-homosexual Day of Silence event. Conversely, if it is listed, the administration may not have been told about it yet, or may claim no knowledge. The best advice is to check with your school newspaper and ask around - the word on the street is your best informant.

It's pretty simple - you just need people and some motivation! Godspeed to all you truth-tellers!

Youth Advisory Project

Legal advice and assistance for pro-family public school students

PO Box 3691, Citrus Heights CA 95610

"The Youth Advisiory Project provides free legal advice and assistance to pro-family students in public schools. This letter addresses the growing problem of “politically correct” censorship of pro-family and conservative speech and explains your rights and options as a pro-family or conservative high school student.

Advisory Letter #1:

Freedom of Speech vs. Political Correctness on the High School Campus

To California Public School Students:

Censorship is government suppression of individual speech and it comes in many forms. In years past, government censors banned certain books and movies. Today, there is a new and growing form of censorship in California public schools called “political correctness.”

Political correctness is a kind of “secular” moral code which takes sides on many controversial issues such as abortion and homosexuality and then declares its views to be morally right and the opposing views to be morally wrong. For example, political correctness defines approval of homosexuality as morally right and disapproval of homosexuality as morally wrong, even disordered (i.e. “homophobic”).

School-based political correctness imposes a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, anti-religious morality on students and discourages views that oppose abortion, homosexuality, the theory of evolution and other government-favored positions on controversial issues. Politically correct textbooks and classroom instruction teach a biased view of these issues and therefore indoctrinate young people in the “correct” perspective, robbing them of the right to hear all points of view and make informed choices for themselves.

Students who do not conform to political correctness often feel left-out, looked down-upon, even scorned by advocates of the politically correct views. Students who have a traditional view of family and sexual relationships sometimes face outright discrimination because they dare to challenge “politically correct” dogma.

An attempt to silence non-politically-correct views is bad enough when it comes from other students. But when it comes from school officials, it may very well be an illegal violation of your Constitutional rights. Attorneys associated with the Youth Advisory Project will help you defend those rights.

1) You have the right to speak your opinion and engage in persuasive argument about any issue that is discussed in schools, without fear of discrimination, retaliation or punishment.

2) You have the right to disagree with, question and to dispute political correctness in textbooks, classroom instruction, and official school policies.

3) You have the right to invite speakers into your school to present your side of the issues to the same extent as students with “politically correct” views.

4) You have the right to form pro-family student clubs and to have access to school facilities and resources to the same extent as every other non-curricular club.

At this time, the Youth Advisory Project is most interested in supporting student-initiated pro-family clubs to counter pro-homosexual clubs being started in many California schools. If you are a pro-family conservative student who desires to form such a club, we want to help. We are also prepared to assist you in asserting and defending your Constitutional rights related to pro-family issues on the high school campus.

For legal advice and assistance in starting a pro-family student club, or to defend your basic rights in the public school, please contact one of the attorneys or legal organizations listed below..."
