Perhaps she was killed to keep her from revealing the identities of others she had faked licenses for? Pure speculation, but I wonder if this has any connection to the latest FBI Terrorism Alert?

Take care,

Ruck

This story is going to be big. The scientist in Memphis going over the bridge, Shelby County, Tenn (the home of Buford Pusser), terriorists, burned bodies, trials, transcripts, all the makings of a movie. The only thing missing is O.J. trying on gloves.

I heard of this 12 hours ago(Hannity radio show), and nothing in media for hours.

Couple it with FBI warning, and I'm folding tin foil for a hat.

Although the gas tank did not explode and the car was only slightly dented from impact with a pole, a fire burned the person inside beyond recognition, FBI agent J. Suzanne Nash testified Monday.

So she had some sort of explosives or accelerant in the vehicle with her. Either this was a suicide, in which she crashed and torched herself (which is sort of unlikely), or it was a murder.

If it was a murder, that means the terrorists are still nearby and at large. It also means they were scared enough of what she knew to need to kill her. Hopefully the FBI will be able to unravel this one as quickly as possible.

Excellent pickup! I don't remember any pictures or film of the sprinkler system going off, but I would only expect it to go off in the areas where there was fire or smoke. Does anyone remember any survivors mentioning anything about the sprinkler system?

That newspaper article says:
He described the automobile in question only as "a four-door car,'' declining further detail. Fayette County Sheriff Bill Kelley said the car was a 1992 Acura Legend.

According to an FBI affidavit, Katherine Smith had a 1992 Acura she was purchasing from one of the Middle Eastern men. Asst. U.S. Atty Tim DiScenza said in court Monday the burned car is the same one Smith had.

The Acura Legend changed greatly from 1990 to 1991. 1990 and prior are "Type I", 1992 and after are "Type II". The Type II has higher HP, more aerodynamic shape. The sedan -- which this is because it is 4-door, has driver-side airbags and ABS brakes. The car receives very high reviews in nearly all categories. (See MSN CarPoint)

CarPoint's Reliability notes potential problems with the ABS brakes for that year:

An occasional problem on this vehicle is failure of the ABS Pressure Switch. The cost to repair the ABS Pressure Switch is estimated at $308.00 for parts and $40.00 for labor. All prices are estimates based on $65 per flat rate hour and do not include diagnostic time or any applicable sales tax.

Hmmm..So this Judasesque wench sells out for a few bucks and then buys the farm in a mysterious crash.

How did this scam come to light in the first place? The story doesn't say.

I noticed no mention of a family for Smith. I'd bet she was a greedy, lonely, spinster who thought those Arab boys were good looking. She probably fantasized she was involved in some intrigue. As it turned out, she flubbed it,( the discovery of the fake lincenses) and was rubbed out by the ruthless bastards. Are there any pictures of the perps and the traitor, Ms. Smith?

Thanks for your work in posting all of these stories. I broadened the category a bit beyond Mrs. Smith because this strikes me as a warning to others in a license fraud organization of some kind. Whether she could have jeoparized an ongoing terror operation, or whether the mob was letting the terrorists know that they wouldn't tolerate them screwing up their nice little setup, I don't know. But somebody was warning somebody. Otherwise, she'd have have died a less spectacular death. Nobody risks getting caught at murder without a good reason.

She responded that a visitor's pass for the World Trade Center, dated Sept. 5, 2001, was found in Sakhera Hammad's wallet. Hammad told authorities he was a plumber and worked on the center's sprinkler system,

You think?............. Naaaaah...Still.....Hard to prove now.
