She's not kidding about bonobo chimps being a "feminist fantasy vision." Many years ago, I read an article by a leftist author praising these particular animals. Apparently, they trade sexual favors without regard to gender, status, or age, to avoid conflict over things like food and territory. The author expressed the wistful hope that the human species would one day "evolve" to follow the bonobos' example...

Women getting mouthy and pushy is not a new thing. There's a verse in Isaiah that laments that "children are their oppressors, and women rule over them." And there's a verse in IIRC Hosea about the "fat cows of Bashan, who say to their husbands "Bring, that we may drink!" Men are gonna act like men again - it will come. A major shooting war with massive mobilization, a depression - it will come. And the best women will benefit from it - womanly virtues, chastity and honoring men will be rewarded as it should be. The "GI Jane" nonsense will be knocked into a cocked hat...

I read this article and I think of Al Gore.

What red-blooded woman would be attracted to such a man? If I want a girlfriend, I'll find a girl! It's really too bad that our schools are turning out persons who are afraid to be themselves. I married someone fifteen years my senior, but I found him to be a MAN! I may be unusual but when looking for a new book to read, I avoid women authors; I find that male authors are much more reliable. Touchy, feely makes me sick to my stomach. I'm interested in facts not feelings. I'm so glad that some people: eg Andrew Sullivan, are going into book recommendations. Oprah's are titles I'd go a long way to avoid. But then her authors write about hating men and women being the only achievers while men are fighting them all the way. I, on the other hand, love men and found them to have been very supportive all during my career as an IBM Systems Designer. Go, Guys, Go.

I remember this column when it originally came out. Isn't this something like the inverse of that Gloria Steinem quote, ``We've become the men we wanted to marry.''

"Our" culture hasn't been feminized - Blue Nation's has! Guys here in North Carolina are much more likely to spend their weekend browsing at a nearby gun show, debating the merits of various all-terrain vehicles with their friends, or arguing with their friends about who's best in NASCAR than chatting with their buddies about "their" (wife's) sonogram!

I can't believe how far off base this woman is. I enjoy sitting around talking out my problems with my wife and mother-in-law. Why just the other day I was explaining how much happier I am now that I've given up beer and girlie magazines for a few sips of wine a couple of hours with Cosmo...
Ah... my wife left for a moment. I don't really feel his way and the article is right o...
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh....
Ouch! Oooo. Eeeek. Bim, bam, boom, zonk, slap, punch...
The wife is back! Gotta go.
