My son was born on Thursday 2/7/2002. The day after President Reagan's 91st birthday. I was hoping he'd come a day earlier, but babies have their own schedule. You can rest assured, however, that he will grow to respect this man, and hopefully one day, emmulate him.

The one thing Reagan's detractors do that bothers me most is to call him
"The Great Communicator." That label is an intentional slur. Although it's certainly true that he was a great communicator, he was so much more than that. The title of "Great Communicator" also fits Bryan Gumble, Barbara Walters, and even Liberace! Does Reagan deserve to be classified with them?
The one title which he should have, but which the media will never use, is "The Man Who Brought Down the Soviet Union Without Firing a Shot." He has earned, and perhaps one day will have, a singular place in history as one of the greatest of men.
