Because of Reagan, I was able to see clinton as shallow and transparent from the beginning. Reagan made me interested in politics.

In my lifetime, I've been able to show my children the legacy of greatness and, unfortunately, the legacy of weakness.

Thank you and G*d bless, Mr. President.

Thanks!

Would we still have our country if not for President Reagan?

How many of us and our families would be alive today if not for President Reagan?

I'm sure if not for President Reagan, the country we love would not be here. He started rebuilding the Navy and Air Force and Army that has defeated the Talibaners inspite of 8 years of neglect and treason by X42!

God Bless you President Reagan thank you for saving America and its people!

My only regret is that I wasn't born a year or two earlier. I never has the honor, pleasure, or satisfaction of voting for him.

I was blessed with the opportunity to cast my first vote for the Gipper. I eagerly drove 90 miles after my college classes ended that GREAT Tuesday in 1980 to my home town where I was legally registered to vote. (Note to the countless, uneducated democrats: only ONE voter registration is allowed no matter how many stops the 'ol DNC bus can make in one day.)

Very few "mininmal" actions in my life have brought me such a great sense of accomplishment. However, voting for GW in 2000 does come a liitle close.

Besides Nancy Reagan, I'd say that Peggy Noonan is the most qualified person by far to write of, and about, Ronald Reagan.
She just 'gets it'...what he was all about.

And ya want to know something?
(She never would), but if Mrs. Reagan publicly asked for something...anything, she would be beseiged by folks across this country, and the world, offering their help in any way they could.
Folks like those commenting here on how much our President truly means to us.
I honestly don't think the same could be said for any other living former president.

We talk about Ronald Reagan for a lot of reasons. But the main is because we love him.

One of the biggest regrets of my life is having never voted for the man.
Thank God the vast majority of the country was smarter than me.

And she loved him unconditionally. She loved HIM (not as a president). As a MAN.
As a man she stayed with all her life, after the spotlight of presidency waned. She LOVED...still LOVES him.
To me, that's so obvious.

Thanks for the post, Pokey, and for the ping, Sabe. Miss Noonan, that beautiful Irish colleen (cuchlain?), is in fine form here. Sentence rhythms flow smooth as her blond mane. Her words serve as well to explain the purpose of writing history: to remember greatness, and thus be fortified and emboldened for what is yet to come.
