February 4, 2002 -- Some of the terror thugs being held at Camp X-Ray are having regrets about their actions, a Muslim Navy cleric said yesterday.

Lt. Abuhena Saiful-Islam, who meets daily with the 158 detainees at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, said that while many continue to maintain their innocence, others are having second thoughts.

If you weren't ignorant about mental illness and the effect it has upon health, behavior and intellectual processes you would know what is accepted as common sense in the mental health professions. Although the article does not speak of the severity of the conditions mentioned, any of these diagnoses, if sufficiently severe, could cause profound disruptions in health, behavior and intellectual processes.

Amazingly, it isn't all about you, or your vast prodigious profound experiences upon which the world is waiting with bated breath for the mere mention of. I base my comment on a reading of the actual article. NOWHERE does this short piece connect the interrogation with the treatment. You made that leap, all by your little mental health lonesome. You, in fact, drew all sorts of unprofessional conclusions connecting one to the other. Remind me never to recommend you to anyone.

I don't know where to start with you. These detainees have been brainwashed into desiring martyrdom. That means their goal is death. Being tortured to death is an even greater martyrdom for them, they would be happy to suffer that fate while keeping their mouths shut. The Marines in Gitmo are killing them with kindness. They are upsetting their belief system. These guys will be spilling their guts in a few weeks.

To answer your other statement, who are you going to get to do the torture and killing? How are you going to cover it up? Forget about the world press. Committing such acts are very bad for morale. US soldiers are products of their society. The society does not like to see suffering or needless killing. When soldiers witness their own forces committing such acts morale suffers greatly. Remember Vietnam?

I don't think this is a bi-polar issue, so much as these Al Queda pukes are a bunch of people who are very easy to lead around. They are kind of a self-selected group, because they are the ones that thought that Jihad was a good idea in the first place. They have been isolated and fed a line of BS from a very young age. So they have not been exposed to another point of view and have been made very malleable. And the terrorists in Gitmo represent the subset of these people for whom the treatment was most effective.

So it is not surprising that when somebody else is in control of their environment and feeding them a different set of inputs, that they are easily swayed. These are not the sharpest knives in the drawer, here; they just carry sharp knives. I think the process of treating them with compassion and humanity will soon yield the results we desire, as they come to realize they were wrong and give us any information they have.

Then we can take these reformed, repentent former terrorists out and shoot them and feed the bodies to the sharks.

Any Imams out there? I have a theological question: When a repentant Jihadist martyr is executed, does he still get his 72 virgins? Enquiring minds what to know!

Give us all a break, Navy Muslim cleric. They may well be wondering "where they went wrong" but it was in this vein, "Where can we have gone wrong that we failed to kill the American and Afghani soldiers and got captured instead? And, once we figure it out, what can we do to rectify that mistake?"

Mindedly is not a word. Perhaps you need to pick a field whose lexicon you have the capacity to employ.

On its own, perhaps not, but the meaning of the sentence "He pursued his goal single-mindedly" is exactly equivalent to "He pursued his goal with single-mindedness" and "He was single-minded in the pursuit of his goal". In the first instance "single-minded" is used as an adverb; in the second, as a noun in a prepositional phrase; and in the third, as an adjective. All three are grammatically correct
