Thanks, Julie. I saw it, but didn't hear the commentary. Nobody else at our 'gathering' even noticed until I brought it up, and there aren't all that many 'listeners' during a Super Bowl, so they didn't hear it. "Cheers and beers"

Another 'class' and intangible PLUS for the Patriots.

Wonder if Mack Brown learned anything from Belichick about quarterback management?

"I suppose I could let you off the hook."

Or, at least compliment the 'crow' with some fine New England lobster. {;~)

Thank You, It's been a long dry spell and this water is like gold.
This team and their lack of ego is as refreshing as I've seen in pro sports in a long time. I'll savor it.

I wish I were back in New England right now. Lobster would be a great way to cap off this wonderful night.

Dales, I hope you bet money on the game; you predicted it exactly! ;)

This is the only time I wish I was still in Boston instead of in beautiful Orlando.

I moved to Orlando in January from Roslindale. I think I did my part for their victory. :)

I think when she showed off that big two finger model ring during the NFC championship trophy presentation last weekend it was really stupid. It reeked of overconfidence. You don't give your opponents something to pin up in their locker room like that.

A question from those of us with only enough knowledge of football rules to make us dangeorus: After the Rams' TD tieing it 17-17, why didn't they just try to run the ball through and pretty much (hopefully) ending it there, instead of just doing the extra point kick? At least, that's what my father was asking. I said I thought they were only allowed to try running the ball through in certain situations, or else they were allowed to but were afraid of screwing it up somehow and guaranteeing a 17-17 tie instead of the sure-to-win (yeah, right) 18-17 score they ended up with.

Can someone tell me who's right here?

The ball hit the ground after the field goal with two seconds left. In a way, it's sad to see that sports have become theatre and that wrapping things up in the most dramatic manner is exactly what FOX and the NFL wanted rather than demonstrating that they wanted to be sure to follow the rules of the game. Clearing the field and running a final kickoff and return just wouldn't have been tidy.

And as a purist, I can't help but imagine what might have happened had Faulk and all the Ram receivers been on the field for one final attempt at a runback...

Great game though, congrats Pats fans!

The Pats requested the team intro.... It's in keeping with their ethos all year. The team wins games!

Going for the two-point conversion instead of the extra-point kick would have been, in Al Gore's words, risky. If they made it, great. They go up by one. Don't make it, you're down by one.

Chalk it up to odds. The smart money was on tieing it up and possibly going into overtime instead of trying for the win right there.

I believe you're asking why they (the Rams) didn't go for the two-point conversion instead of the extra point, and the answer is that if they missed - and since the Pats have an excellent run-defence, missing was a distinct probability - they would've been down 17 to 16, and probably lost the game right there.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant. I can't believe I got the numbers mixed up in my post. I meant to say why after making it 17-16, they didn't go for the two-point conversion (the name of the term itself I obviously forgot) instead of just the extra point. Thanks for the explanation. They can go for a two-point conversion after any TD if they're willing to take the risk though, right?

The best damn Superbowl and the best damn half-time show ever, period.

Don't forget the pre-game show!

And Madden was crazy for telling them to run out the clock. The Pats D-line was dead, and they had very little chance of winning in OT.
