Michael Barone is not a political scientist. More remarkable when you consider he is the editor of the acclaimed Annual Of American Politics. No one knows as much about the ins and outs of politics in this country than Barone does and his judgments are usually prescient. That and given that he's a conservative, is why he's usually not sought after in the liberal weakstream media. He paints a portrait of the nation liberals would rather not see. His verdict of President Bush as a great war leader will stand the test of time. I'll go further and state President Bush is already a President for the ages. What stood out most about his wartime State Of The Union address is that its fundamentally a conservative vision of an America rising to the challenge of its historic destiny. And even though it was crafted to appeal to Democrats, feminists, and secularists as well as conservatives, the speech President Bush gave laid down a marker for the rest of his Presidency and even beyond our lifetimes. Make no mistake, what shines through for Americans who saw and listened to it in these uncertain times is a confession of a man who found his calling and who with steely determination and confidence assured us this beloved land will prevail and in the end made clear to the enemies of America they're living on borrowed time. No wonder almost the entire country is willing to follow this man through fire and flood to safe shores. Surely President Bush will be remembered for many things but its safe to say as Barone and others have concluded, this is the event that defined who Bush is and what he will do for the rest of his time in office. Let any one be accursed and hold their manhoods cheap who hath not known what a kind of President we were privileged to behold. God Bless America.

Barone has the good sense of a truly wise person. His writing is never nasty, and unlike most of the Washington crowd he has both an unerring political sense and a finely honed worldview. He sees and understands the big picture. Good health Michael! You make age curious, Time furious, and all of us envious.

There are plenty of Liberal Dimocrats around who fit that description. Especially the part about holding "their manhoods cheap!"

Think I prefer the constitution to instruct me in what America stands for.

Amen to that!

Someone (Dick Morris?) said President Bush has a date with Mount Rushmore in the future. I sure agree! God bless our awesome president.
