Please read the article again. Menstruation is not the "first sign". There are other signs before menstruation.....like small breast buds. And while I think the mentioned six or seven is young, in my experience with my four daughters and other girls I've been around, it's not that far off the mark, unfortunately.

When was the last time you actually saw a classroom full of 3rd or 4th grade girls?

Some of those girls are as tall as I am (5'6"), and look like high school girls.

I vote for the growth hormone-laden milk produced in bulk (also served at schools, as opposed to the organic stuff) to be causing some of the early growth problems.

I don't buy it either. I was 9 when my menses began and that was 35 years ago. My daughter is just shy of 12 and nothing is happening...thank God. :o)
