All you need to do is look at the history books that were in use when the American public schools were actually functional. While you're at it, look over the Civics books, the Math Books, the Science Books, the Literature Books, and the Grammar Books.

I don't have to look at them, I was "educated" out of them.

They are functional today, it's just that they have a different function.

I might also point out that I wasn't exactly given the whole story back when they were "functional" from a conservative viewpoint.
