Passenger left area before being questioned further.

He got away while the National Guardsman was fumbling around in his pocket for his bullet.

Note to self: if questioned by security guards just don't stop running. They'll give up.

Methinks the passenger must have had bad intentions...else why would he run?

"Oh this old shoe? You mean this powder? I always have a firecracker in my shoe. Don't you?"

Either that, or Dr. Scholls makes a much more lethal product that I'd previously believed! Seriously, I seem to recall an incident where someone was badly burned when *talcum powder* ignited. Perhaps it was something mixed with the talc, I can't recall.

Real accidents are sorted out quickly with any innocent travelers who have some sort of nail file, firecracker residue, maybe an aeresol can etc.

Real travelers who have nothing to hide don't turn around and leave the darned airport. This sounds weird.

Houston news channels have shown the boxes of knives, nail files, hair utensils, etc. that have been collected at security, almost exclusively brought along due to ignorance, but all without a disruption to service.

I hope the find the guy in SF and let Bo Jackson have a talk with him.

I'm waiting to see if the guy was middle eastern in appearance.

I bet if he was, you will be hard pressed to find any mention of it from the media. It's insensitive, and it might create an aura of suspicion around those of Middle Eastern appearance.

Will the shoes/sneakers/clothing you wear at the shooting range give the same results? How about your hands and hair?

Makes no difference. If it "makes the dog sit down" you get a closer look, as will your shoes/sneakers/clothing AND luggage.

Hmmmmm.....let's see.....

The airport shuts down and the suspect walks out. Wow, I feel so safe with these new security procedures.

I'm working at a port of entry in Arizona, and I guarantee you that when we question someone we don't just let them leave the area before we're done with them. They get tackled, hooked up and locked up, but they don't just "run away".

Those aren't my shoes. I would never wear those ugly a-- shoes!

So in the meantime, if tou want to bring America to its knees, just raise a fuss at an airport and shut it down for the day.

How about screening people befor they get to the point where they can shut the airport down?

I forgot to add, "unless you decide to simply walk away from the blind & lame government employees who were supposed to be detaining you".

I do too. I think many of us relieve our fears with humor. But you're right. Also, the level of arrogance and stupidity these terrorist seem to want to carry out their evil. I shudder to think of what may happen next.

Do our security procedures presume that terrorists will stop running when asked to?
