Passenger left area before being questioned further. No security officer could be that incompetent, even in SF. There has to be more to the story.

No, no, no. When you ask "What's that on your shoe?" at the checkpoint, and the shoe-wearer bolts, you chase, overtake, and tackle him. Then you beat him with the shoe. You don't let him "leave the area".

That is just what the commentator said...I wish they would update.

(San Francisco-AP) -- Thousands of people were evacuated from a United terminal at San Francisco International Airport this morning after a man left a security gate with explosive residue on his shoes.
Airport spokesman Mike McCarron says a check of the man's sneakers showed some type of explosive residue. He said it could have just been from fireworks. The man walked away before the investigation could be completed.
The man has not been found.
McCarron says domestic gates 61 to 89 have been affected -- and all flights at those gates are being held.

He was searching for his sole mate . . . That was clever. :) Wonder, really, how he could leave so freely---what incompetence.

Here is what I have never understood. If a guy gets through security, people die and that sucks. If he doesn't get through security, everybody panics and they shut down the aiport. I would think that an attack being foiled would be a reason to rejoice, not one to panic.

Sorry. I accidently wore these shoes to the airport that I use to when I am in my terrorist mode. I meant to wear my gucci loafers today but it was dark in the closet.

Methane gas from decaying dog poop on the outside lawn.
Airport Security Screener: "Now, you wait right here while we analyze the explosive on your shoe ..."
