Terrorist, Disguised as Doctor, Caught

IDF and Border Guard forces raided a number of Arab villages in Area B - under Israeli military control - this past night. The IDF spokesman said that six terrorists were arrested in Abu Dis, east of Jerusalem, and in two other villages near Shechem and Bethlehem.

Last night, the IDF captured a wanted terrorist taking advantage of the relatively free passage granted to PA ambulances. He was disguised as a doctor, but alert soldiers at a roadblock near Brachah, just southwest of Shechem, detected and arrested him.

The IDF Spokesman announced afterwards, "Claims are often raised against holding up ambulances at checkpoints for security checks. Cases such as this prove the evident need for these checks. In addition, IDF soldiers are direct to ensure that in humanitarian cases and medical emergencies, the ambulances must be allowed to pass as fast as possible."

I listened to the most horrible anti-Israel hit piece on NPR the other day that I have ever heard and one of their "indictments" of the Israelis was hampering ambulances. If I knew how, I would send them this article. Thanks for the information.

The same mentality as storing/hiding weapons in the middle of a city (e.g., Nigeria) and using human shields (Saddam). The populus does not like the conseuquences, but when will they realize what causes produce them? When will they direct any kind of anger towards their own?

On another note, I am amazed at the effectiveness of the IDF: most of the circumstances they face are new to mankind and cannot be learned in military schools. Yet they manage to get things right most of the time, with amazingly little collateral damage. Which army or police ever faced female suicide bombers and terrorists in ambulances?
