Donald G. Arnold is a Vietnam veteran and president of his neighborhood association. He was named a "citizen of the year" by Maryland in 2000 for his work with police in southeast Baltimore to stop drug dealers and make the city safer.

Uh, these folks are losing their firearms rights over MISDEMEANOR CONVICTIONS, not felonies, based on the POSSIBLE MAXIMUM SENTENCE for the misdemeanor (not actual sentence).
Damn Lautenberg's soul to Hades.
As one that has been devastated financialy by a bail bond, attorney fees and fine, and spent 4 days in jail because of an unconstitutional gun law in Texas, I would argue that the law was not worthless to the State.

§ 46.02. Unlawful Carrying Weapons
(a) A person commits an offense if he intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his person a handgun, illegal knife, or club.

I will forever be branded a weapons violator. If my drivers license should be checked on a traffic stop you can bet the dispatcher will add "Subject may be armed".
Hopefully those of you still foolish enough to believe that they're only after "bad guns" and would never confiscate hunting/sporting guns, noticed this.
No question, it "is" ridiculous. Unless, of course, you realize that the REAL INTENT is to remove firearms from any hands except those of government (i.e. "..police and the military.." as the gun-grabbers are so fond of saying). They firmly believe that NO ONE, however law-abiding, should be allowed to own any kind of firearm (actually projectile weapon).
And stretching it to possible convictions not actual opens the door ten feet wide.
Confiscation without allowing you to "sell-to-a buddy" til you have a chance to take the police state officals to court is nothing more than a Nazi practice.
What can us freepers do for this guy?
We have real criminals out there and the "law enforcement" /sarcasm will use our tax dollars to go after the citizens that pay their very salaries.
Criminals usually avoid paying taxes; we citizens pay to the taxes and this is the result.
Time for rebeliion.
He's lost his right to possess, that is to keep, as well as his right to carry, that is to bear.
"Trust me. In a lot of these cases, I'm sympathetic, but
I'm governed by the law," said Maj. Thomas Bowers,
chief of detectives for Maryland State Police.
People who want a state that RESPECTS thier rights should either move one stae North or South. I did. Otherwise you have NO room to complain.
MD is a LOST CAUSE.
On the six-month anniversary of the murders at Columbine High School,
Attorney General J. Joseph Curran, Jr. today took the first
bold step toward making Maryland the most handgun-free state in the country.
Through the release of his report,
A Farewell to Arms: The Solution to Gun Violence in America,
Attorney General Curran outlined the first step toward making
Maryland the first state in the nation to outlaw handgun ownership except in very limited
circumstances. Currans report contains a three-part plan to reach his goal of restricting the sale
and possession of handguns to only those who can demonstrate a legitimate law enforcement
purpose or those who can guarantee their guns will be used
only in regulated sporting activities.
