Not to mention not posting the lastest bogus "virus alert" from hoax emails.

Your the man Jim. I couldn't agree more, although I've probably broke some of those rules myself. Thanks for the forum.

Bookmarked.
Question: When a duplicate post is pointed out to the person making the thread, sometimes people are grateful, and sometimes they are not. I have had it pointed out to me when I make a duplicate post, and also there have been times that after making a thread, I was able to find an identical, earlier post.
My question is, would you rather it not be mentioned to a person if the thread already exists? Does it annoy you guys when it is pointed out as much as it annoys the person making the duplicate post?
I think all registered users of FR could stand to read this post by Jim Robinson, but I doubt all will follow it, sadly. More work and waste for FR.

Thanks for the Post, Jim & others
I am reminded of what Curmudgeon said to me years ago....
"Don't shoot your wingman"

If you want to criticize someone's position on some policy, have at it. But do not trash or smear the man. That would include Browne, Buchanan, Bush, Keyes, et al, or whomever else may be your favorite trashee (examples listed in alphabetical sequence). To all you libertarian bashers and Libertarian bashers -- notice the mention of Harry's name??

What about the "Caption This Photo" threads? They provide a lot of humor. Are they discouraged?

Jim, thanks but!
Please try to stay on topic (politics)
I depend on this forum for all my breaking, national, domestic news. We're probably faster and a lot more accurate on domestic issues than any of the major networks.
If you limit this forum to only political news we'll lose one of our better member services.

And, along these same lines, please use the original titles on your article posts. Do NOT edit the titles. Do NOT use "My Title" titles. This will also help to reduce the number of duplicates.
I understand your point. At the same time, the real title doesn't always describe what the article is about. Can we post the real title and then in parentheses give our title?

I'm so sorry - I didn't realize Buchanan was a conservative!

I am overjoyed to read this thread.
We have picked up a large number of "Bush bashers/America is always wrong groups/Republicans are as evil as dims crowds" in the last year or so. Their one purpose in life is to disrupt FR and try to infuriate FReepers enough that they will lash out with profane/dumb statements which are used against us.
Maybe the Abuse button will become a friend to us all.
