Good arguments! I hope that he gets an Oscar nod, but if Two Towers is anywhere near as well done as FotR was, then Sam will dominate. I can see him already, kneeling at Frodo's side when - well, you all know what I mean.... and I'm looking forward to the humorous scenes with Gollum. You're right about Frodo's part sort of getting lost during Two Towers. We experienced fans know it's because of that Ring, but newbies (if there are any by TT, since I'm sure huge numbers are reading the books now for the first time) will be bewildered.

You are right, but I think Jackson has headed this off by giving Frodo room to grow. And also by the casting of Elijah Wood. Wood has made all the right choices in his portrayal of Frodo. There is no reason to think that won't continue.
Personally, I think Smeagol will be the star of TTT mostly because he's my favorite character. It says alot about this character that in a book full of richly drawn characters, to me, he is the stand-out.
