***PROOF of Media Bias**** Gun Control Poll 180 degrees off on what was reported vs. their web site!
KTHV (CBS Affiliate-Little Rock) ^ | 23 JAN 02 | dcbryan1

Posted on 01/23/2002 7:29:21 PM PST by DCBryan1

Further proof of Media bias TONIGHT presents itself in Little Rock, Arkansas at the local CBS affliate of KHTV.

Tonight they had a poll which read:

Should parents be held responsible for harm caused by their children involving family owned guns?
Yes
No

At 6PM CST The local newscast notified the public that the poll was on their website at the above URL. They told the public that the results would be posted at their 10PM CST newscast.

At 9:59 PM CST, the poll stated:

KHTV ONLINE POLL

or

(ONLINE KTHV POLL)

Judge for yourself. Is the media biased?

Here is what you can do?

1) Contact KHTV TV and ask why they reported that the 77% Yes/22% NO vote was not what their website reported.

2) Paste, copy, email this thread and comments to Media Research Center and get their opinion.

3) Demand that KHTV either post the true results or give an explanation why they used the 77/22 vote versus the 90+/10 vote.

Thanks!

CRAP! I hit enter before finishing!

Anyway, KHTV reported the wrong numbers. 77/22 vs 95%/5%.

Who can we forward this to for help?

I don't see how this is a gun control issue really. If the children are young, parents should be held responsible if they leave loaded guns lying around. I believe this, but I'm not in favor of gun control. Children control is more like it :)

This shouldn't surprise you.

It doesn't, it just pisses me off.

Oh well, more proof for MRC.

Depending upon the literal fine print of how they reported the poll would be "scored", this could be an FCC case. They should be reported to them.

They should be Freeped hard. The bad news is that they are a WB station and hardly anyone watches it anyway. They could be boycotted and not even notice it because ratings are liable to be almost flatline now already, LOL.

If anybody local wants to help, the advertisers on the station can be Freeped once they are named, a la like we did with Bill Maher.

From the WB39 website:
"Need to contact someone at Houston's WB39. Fill out this form or email acruse@tribune.com"

Unleash hell.

Contact KHTV TV and ask why they reported that the 77% Yes/22% NO vote was not what their website reported.

You live there. Why dont you pick up the phone and ask them. Perhaps they have an innocent answer. Are you too lazy to find out or is it just more fun to scream media bias?

In any case, these website surveys are worth a piece of used toilet paper. They have no scientific validity. They can be freeped which means that they probably bare no relationship to what people really think. The big problem is that people decide whether to take the time to participate. Only hard core people on one side or the other is likely to bother.

I called three times. They have caller-ID and on the third call I heard the girl say, "It's him again asking about our poll and if we are going to correct it tonight".

Her other answers were: "We will look into it".

As far as calling me lazy, your a pretty brave (man?). I burn more calories and use more braincells to advance conservative ideas here in Arkansas and online on FreeRepublic before 9AM than you did this month.

Sirgawain, budge...back me up here.

When I went to the poll the numbers were:

Should parents be held responsible for harm caused by their children involving family owned guns?

Yes 3.1 %

No 96.9 %

Yet you posted 77% yes/22% no

What gives?

There's a fairly significant difference between bias and bald-faced lying. This collection of lowlifes can't even be characterized as "leaning" toward the left; they've gone all the way into Pravda mode.

They probably used the results from around 8pm when they were writing the story. They didn't say they would post the results from any specific time.

I can't believe that almost 97% of the people who did the poll would think that parents shouldn't be held responsible for what their kids do with their guns.

What happened to personal responsibility? Especially if the parents were negligent?

Well so I should thank you for Bill Clinton. If I were you I wouldnt brag.

If you asked the same question three times in an hour, what did you expect them to do. One call youre a concerned viewer. Three calls you are just a harrasing troublemaker. Do you really think they will call you back now. You have a self fulfilling prophecy. You see bias, you act like a fool, and what do you know, they didnt call me back. Proof theyre biased. With whack jobs like you in Arkansas, no wonder Hillary saw a vast right wing conspiracy.

Looks like the poster made a typo in the call letters for the station. This is a CBS affiliate in Arkansas (KTHV).

Houston KHTV is the WB affiliate (not the poll site).

You may disagree with how he went about things but that shouldn't be a reason to be personally nasty. DCBryan didn't write a damn novel, he wrote a short post. You are making a lot of assumptions about the situation. For example, he said he called 3 times. Maybe the first two times he called, the weasels played dumb and told him to call back later. Maybe they lied and said the person he needed to talk would be in later. The point is, when someone is on my team, they don't have to write a damn novel covering every damn detail to convince me that they are not being "lazy" or a "whack job".

It's a pain to be nitpicked and have to go to so much trouble to satisfy nitpicking whiners such as yourself. This reply by me is a good example. I've done an awful lot of typing, and gone into much detail because you seem to need to know every detail.

I could have just quickly said that you are a cretin and left it at that. But I knew that you would nitpick my statement unless I told you WHY. Ass.

Good catch there. Good news, too, because an affiliate of a "major" network has more to lose.
