READ HOW EFF IS NAILING THE UNION IN WASHINGTON

The Evergreen Freedom Foundation just reported that the NEA is giving some dues money back to 4,000 teachers in the state of Washington.

The good news comes on the heels of the million dollars in fines and assessement charged to the Washington Education Association for taking member dues and using them for RAT political purposes without permission.

We need to replicate the success of EFF across the country.

I have checked a district near me. Some of the schools have all the teachers listed as well as e-mail to each of the teachers.

Is there any downside to sending each of them a simple e-mail:

Attention teacher. You may not know that your union is using dues money for political purposes, in many cases without permission. If that is happening to your dues, you have the right to demand some of your money back. You have a right to demand an accounting. (*** give link to the story or EFF website ***)

Any other ideas?

The WEA, Washington Education Association (WA State, that is), just voted to increase their dues $36 a year. That brings the annual dues for each teacher to a little over $700! Looks to me like most of the teachers are perfectly willing to pay those dues!

In our school district, the teachers wanted - as a negotiated item - the board to endorse a closed shop. We turned it down every time but it doesn't really matter. Every teacher signs up with the union and when one is attacked they come together like bees to honey.

It's worse than that. When I posted Bush's Executive Order (since the union failed to... and the EO does require it be posted), I had 4 teachers (about 5%) come to ME (again, not the union reps) and ask about it. Of those 4 teachers, 3 said they weren't interested in getting THEIR ILLEGALLY USED MONEY back, since they didn't want to weaken the state or local unions. I pointed out that they could just ask the national for that portion of the dues (about $100 each for 2000 only), but they balked. The fourth asked for and received his check. (Oddly enough, neither of us chose to continue working in that school system. We weren't mistreated or anything, but I will say that pushing the union to do obey the law made me a bit concerned.)

When people aren't interested in getting THEIR OWN, ILLEGALLY USED MONEY returned to them, there's something wrong.

No kidding. I don't know a single teacher who is, at all, concerned about his/her union dues. They just pay them.

Yes, $700 bucks!!

The National Right To Work Foundation just might be the best way to spend money if you simply want to effect maximal damage to the NEA and the Democrat party.

Here is a little mention of something going on about 11 miles from Hillary Clinton's house. Arguably, groud zero for educational mis-management, and no doubt the last place where we will see reform.

Pod Read the contract carefully, if it says that agency fees are equal to regular union dues, you got them by the nads.

If you can find one member who wants to sue contact the National Right To Work Foundation you got 'em. Check the Locals form 990 for political contributions.
