I am not surprised that men pressure women to have abortions, as in my case, it was 'have an abortion or I kick you out'. I opted for getting kicked out, happened to be Christmas Eve in a Maine blizzard. I did not leave a forwarding address. He found me anyways, lasted past literally being kicked off my doorstep, buying a house and is the proudest most affectionate father a child could hope for. Not all cases turn out like mine, but even if he didn't search me out, I had plans which included giving birth to my now 2 yr old daughter who is definately a blessing. Women need more encouragement to be principled. They need strentgh to do what is right rather than unattached 'whatever you want, but it would be easier if...' As far as costs for having a child: yeah, right, hospitals have free services if you fill out paperwork, organizations give you all the diapers, formula and clothes you can need and healthcare for the infant is free with Medicare or medicaid(if you don't mind invasion of privacy or the fact that the money was taken under duress by the government, which an unwed mother probably has no clue about).
There are also fathers who try to discourage abortions and they deserve their pat on the back, however I wonder where their legal rights are in this case? As far as I know, they have none.
