China has a plan. Their plan does not include NASA or America.

We should claim the moon and mars for America now and start developing space weapons systems.

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww. Not enough sunlight for it to ever be habitable even with terraforming the moon is critical asa future base to mine the asteroid belt.

I think their plan is called "taking the high ground"....

This could lead to a very interesting war.... if WE don't capitulate before it starts.

The 1967 United Nations "Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space

This treaty is meaningless, just some nice-sounding words. America should serve notice and withdraw from the treaty.

Of course it does. Without Nasa or America they couldn't even send a rocket over the ocean. There can be no doubt that any space plan of the Chinese would heavily depend on American technology in order to have any chance of success.

The US Air Force talks about the high ground, America must take it and hold it. Sounds like a direct challenge from China, but it's just words so far. When they finally get their taikonauts in orbit, that challenge will be hard to ignore, even in Congress. A space war is more than possible.

What technology? America doesn't have a moon rocket anymore. America doesn't even have a plan. That's what we have been harping on for the past couple of years. NASA is dead in the water, or marooned in space, more appropriately. America is going nowhere in space.

The Chinese space agency has a tenth of the funding of Nasa and is about 40 years behind, but at least they have a grand goal in mind. Whereas Nasa with all its resources can't do anything better than a bunch of garbage cans floating in orbit. I say a good old fashioned space race between 2 determined nations can be far more productive than an international consortium effort.
