Some FReepers have nicks that are obvious in their origin, others don't. I've seen several that probably have interesting stories behind them.
I thought it would be cool to see where FReepers get their handles from. If you don't like this topic, DON'T POST HERE! No one forces you to read this. I'm sure other people may be interested. If I'm the only one, let me know so I can crawl away in shame.

Didn't know if you'd ever seen this thread. It's over a year old and screams to life periodically.
Enjoy!

about 5 years ago I had an obsession with honey. I went through atleast several gallons of the stuff over a period of several months before I got tired of it. That's when I started using this nickname in chatrooms. Before that I was pOey. pOey was much more interesting though. It started as Poe. I was then given the "O" by a guy nicknamed stOrmCat and became pOe. All my close friends called me pOey so it ended up pOey. In chat I still use pOey alot and use honeygrl when that nick is taken. I chat *way* too much. Met my hubby in a chatroom in fact.

but at the last minute Harrison Ford hurt his wrist or ankle First of all, I can't believe this thread got ressurected.
Second, Harrison Ford was violently ill with flu-like symptoms and was barely able to stand for shooting anything that day so when he was cued to sword fight he drew his sidearm and ended the scene. Supposedly, Spielberg loved it and actually re-shot it with Ford carrying no wepon but a pistol and the bad guy going down, gut shot.
At least, that's the way I heard it.

When I got on the political bulletin boards and chat rooms in the mid-nineties, conservative women were accused of being straight-laced ugly women.
I found that liberal women tend to be so, actually.
So, I decided that I would help dispell the notion that conservative women are not babes.

It's been years since I've read any Stephen King but I could swear there was some reference to "Arglebargle" in one of his short stories... maybe "Road Work"?

It's where I live. And, yes it does rock from time to time. Tourist season, Fourth of July, Sturgis Bike Week....

",...no fair issuing forth opinions and not admitting who I am.."
Just about anyone who knows me also knows me by "honeygrl" .. my mom posts here too and knows my nick so I can't get away with anything. (I'm only 25 so I still need a chaperone..)

I was taking a Spanish class when I joined Free Republic..so I used the Spanish equivalent for my real name George.
I am actually mostly English, German and French. No Spanish blood that I know of.
It is funny how many times in the immigration threads I get told to go back to Mexico. LOL

I didn't intend to offend you. I apologizeI'm not offended, so no need to apologize. I was just trying to come up with a clever way of saying that I'm a guy. I was in a hurry, so it didn't come out right. Oh well.

That was it! It was the flu. At least someone else heard the same thing and it wasn't the voices in my head talking (at least not this time).
As far as this thread goes, I haven't been on FR for several months, so you can imagine my surprise when I logged on and found comments posted to me from this thread.
IT'S ALIIIVE!

It seems like a name for one of the characters in the movie "Labrynth" (sp?).

I grew up in the cess pool of Porterville, which I love. It is always under represented in this world, so I decided to carry the towns banner, since the local politicians are anti-anything intelligent. Puro Poros....

Bored of the Rings was copyrighted in 1969. I don't know if Mr. King would have borrowed it from there or vice versa.

I found parts of it very funny, particularly in the first third of it or so, but they ran out of ideas long before they finished it.
