President Bush signed the Promoting Safe and Stable Families bill today, which expands programs for at-risk children as well as supports those programs that encourage adoption, and those that try to reunite broken families or provide additional benefits for youths in foster care who are nearing adulthood without being adopted. Bush also met with labor leaders to discuss an energy policy that will help Americans find jobs as well as make the country less dependent on foreign energy products. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

I've got a package filled with videos and other goodies ready to mail to Kosovo.

God bless the brave men and women serving their country, and defending freedom all over the world!

I forgot where he was today, and when I saw those pictures I thought, 'man, they look like gangsters!" And guess what? THEY ARE!

LOL! That's the first thought I had too!! It looks like they're saying "Hey! You talkin to ME?"

Thanks rintense. I especially love the ones with the kids. That little girl in the plaid dress is just a cutie!!

The dem policies are not job-friendly to labor union members.

Dem policies are and always have been friendly to UNION LEADERS! That's why those guys push support of the Dems unrelentingly. But there are so many union workers who have such a blind loyalty to the Dems that is it disgusting!!

Thanks for these, rintense! The red spot is smaller, but the President's eye looks a bit blackened in the close up!

That's Sen. Mike DeWine, R, OHIO, to President Bush's right in the kid photos. We've been invited to lots of social functions/fundraisers for him. You think if I go to one, he'd introduce me to his cute friend?!! hehehe

I say we let the Dems spend all their time scratching around in the dirt, because they're not going to find any wrongdoing by our President. But--in the meantime, the President will be out stealing their issues.

I used to work in public accounting, too, so I find the whole Enron discussion "brings back memories."

Great review of what must have been a VERY busy day for the President. I hope he's sleeping soundly right now.

At the risk of turning this into an "accounting thread" - wouldn't that be exciting - what did the SEC head announce today? The line on the TV was some new "accounting regulations." I hope they don't go hog-wild just because there was one bad apple in the barrel.

OWF...I would love to hear your tale of meeting the "cute" one! LOL! Lord knows, I still remember the look in his eye and the kiss on the cheek that I got!

I think Pitt called for an end to self-regulation by the industry. Out with the AICPA as disciplinarian, in with some outside groups composed of "experts." Not the government, though.

I listened to Pitt's press conference today; the guy is a serious hard apple. He was dishing it out to the reporters! He must be taking lessons from Ari.

Thanks for the info. I figured "self-regulation", i.e, peer reviews, would be dead. Glad to hear they are not calling for "government" regulation although I wonder who the outside groups would be.

Glad to hear he is taking lessons from Rummy. That is clearly what the country needs and wants. Some plain speaking people that are ready to rumble!!!

From the sublime to the ridiculous, what a range tonight.
Thank you, Princess, for another wonderful Dose!

Does anyone know if this bill President Bush is signing has the mentoring programs that he wanted, and mentoring for kids with a parent in jail?

I finally picked up a copy of the Ladies' Home Journal today and really enjoyed the article! I especially liked this part:

...Laura serves as an emotional lightning rod for George - the cool counterpart to his white-hot moments.....When you are around him and suddenly Laura apears, you can almost see him soften. I have seen him reach for her hand, like older married couples do, without even seeing her.

What a wonderful couple! And then there was this part that really cracked me up!

....the babies were healthy. In the early days, they cried and cried and cried some more....(George) pitched in, learning to change diapers and feed Jenna and Barbara, often juggling both at once, singing the only "kid" song he knew, the Yale fight song: "Bulldog, bulldog, bow wow wow."

Can't you just picture this? You just gotta love President Bush!

President Bush has a history of encouraging programs to support kids at risk. Quote from the $4.99 paperback biography written for children, George W. Bush, Our Forty-third President (by Beatrice Gormley, Simon & Schuster)

"In January 1973 he went to work for the Professional United Leadership League (PULL) an inner-city youth program in Houston...George W. took naturally to this job. He was good at fund-raising, and he had many connections... He loved working with kids, and he loved being around professional athletes. Also, he felt for these boys, growing up in neighborhoods where life was a constant struggle against crime and poverty. He was eager to make a difference in their lives."

Hey Bunny! How are you doing? It has been crazy, busy around here for me lately, but I always try to get in to check out Rintense and her "dose"!! I have to agree with you completely that those kids are precious! Isn't it a terrible thing that so many in this country have to make an issue out of race? Why can't we just love and appreciate all these deserving babes without Jesse Jackson stirring up his irrational garbage??? That is....Jesse Jackson and company!!

Yes, patriciaruth, the legislation included mentoring for kids with parent(s) in prison.

The very image of DeWine makes me ill. What a RINO. And there is another generation up and coming as he has an idiot son on Cincinnati City Council aka the Village Idiots (he fits in well there though). He is just as big of a weasel. I once dated a girl who worked in DeWine's office but unfortunately she does not work there anymore or I could have helped you out on your request, ;-) (but then again, I only went out with her a few times and have not seen her in 6 years, I do know she is married now).
