It's gonna get interesting folks. Democrats INSIST that Republicans recuse themselves from ENRON investigations, yet refuse to do so themselves, when they're caught being as dirty as ENRON!!

HYPOCRISY AT ITS FINEST!

Tony Snow: Congressman Dingell, you accepted ENRON campaign contributions, shouldn't YOU recuse yourself from the Investigation?

Dingell: Well, I intend to give ENRON a fair hearing, and for the record I gave my campaign contribution (after the fact!) to a fund to help make ENRON employees whole, so No, I do not need to recuse myself.

It was priceless!!!!

Dingel also refused to answer repeated questions about when he took Enron's bribes, contributions, gifts, etc.

Dingel also refused to answer repeated questions about when he took Enron's bribes, contributions, gifts, etc.

And yet, he expects the American Public to believe that he can run a "fair" investigation.

Attention ENRON Exec's: that's CODE SPEAK from Dingell that really means if you give him MORE money, the "investigation" will be in your favor!

It will probably be some other interested party who gives Dingel a lot of money. Perhaps one of Enron's creditors or one who benefited, or continues to benefit, by Enron's misconduct. There are a lot of banks, companies and individuals who have a large stake in this.

The Fed's didn't bail me out when I lost money on the dot.com collapse and they (we, the taxpayer) shouldn't bail out Enron.

Such as oh, say CITIGROUP who gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to Sen. Joe LIEberman? Or how about Robert Rubin, who now helps head the conglomerate? Rubin as you know, is the former CLINTON administration Treasury Secretary.

Ooooh....ain't the stench from this something?

Prepare yourself for the hate mail to come! I've been saying this very thing in dozens of posts across FR and yet, there are SOME freepers who don't understand this very simple concept.

It all depends on who's ox is gored....

Guess all the donkeys will be using the "I didn't inhale defense" when it comes to the fact that they took money from Enron.

Tim Russert used a figure earlier this weekend on another NBC show that 70% of the House and 40% of the Senate have accepted bribes...er, excuse me...donations from Enron. What no-one has counted, seems to me, are donations from Enron filtered through PACs. No matter, though. Who's gonna be left to hear anything?

And the Sec of Commerce made a good point to Russert when asked why the Sec didn't intervene (obviously Timmy was trying to find something to hang on the admin), that if they had intervened that the folks who'd have bought stock boosted by the intervention would have been screwed later on when Enron went belly up. That shup Timmy up on that topic.

Thanks for making a point I was just going to make.

ENRON donated to EVERYONE!! As is the case with most political contributors these days....so by the time they get done recusing anyone who recieved $$$ from ENRON WHO THE HECK IS GOING TO BE LEFT TO HEAR ANYTHING????

Well, the taxpayer has no business bailing out Enron. Just because people "lost money". Where do we stop? Look at all the companies that went under recently or lost HUGE amounts of value? Do we bail them out?

Switching gears. The thing we need to do is to chunk the current tax system. Implement a flat tax for individuals and the same for corporations. Or just chunk corporate taxes period. But that won't happen because the campaign contributions would dry up. The tax system in this country is used to shake down people by the politicians. That's why it will never go away. The US is a third world country when it comes to taxation. Even Russia has a better tax system than the US.

Watching these Sunday talk shows make me sick. Sick that we have foul little men like Joe Lieberman and John McCain in positions of power. They don't represent anybody but themselves and they are just in it for the money.

Just watching Dingel on Foxnews.

Calls for a fair complete investigation.

Listened to Evans defend the Administration against some pretty heavy accusations on Meet the Press this morning!

I think the Democrats will follow the Waxman approach to interrogation.
