[Federal Register: May 15, 2001 (Volume 66, Number 94)] [Notices] [Page 26849] From the Federal Register Online via GPO Access [wais.access.gpo.gov] [DOCID:fr15my01-64]

DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission

[Docket No. ER01-1394-000, et al.]

Enron Energy Services, Inc., et al.; Notice of issuance of Order

May 9, 2001.

Enron Energy Services, Inc., et al. (Enron Energy) submitted for filing a rate schedule under which Enron Energy will engage in wholesale electric power and energy transactions at market-based rates. Enron Energy also requested waiver of various Commission regulations. In particular, Enron Energy requested that the Commission grant blanket approval under 18 CFR Part 34 of all future issuances of securities and assumptions of liability by Enron Energy.

On April 27, 2001, pursuant to delegated authority, the Director, Division of Corporate Applications, Office of Markets, Tariffs and Rates, granted requests for blanket approval under Part 34, subject to the following:

Within thirty days of the date of the order, any person desiring to be heard or to protest the blanket approval of issuances of securities or assumptions of liability by Enron Energy should file a motion to intervene or protest with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, NE., Washington, DC 20426, in accordance with Rules 211 and 214 of the Commission's Rules of Practice and Procedure (18 CFR 385.211 and 385.214).

Absent a request to be heard in opposition within this period, Enron Energy is authorized to issue securities and assume obligations or liabilities as a guarantor, indorser, surety, or otherwise in respect of any security of another person; provided that such issuance or assumption is for some lawful object within the corporate purposes of the applicant, and compatible with the public interest, and is reasonably necessary or appropriate for such purposes.

The Commission reserves the right to require a further showing that neither public nor private interests will be adversely affected by continued approval of Enron Energy's issuances of securities or assumptions of liability.

Notice is hereby given that the deadline for filing motions to intervene or protests, as set forth above, is May 29, 2001. Copies of the full text of the Order are available from the Commission's Public Reference Branch, 888 First Street, NE., Washington, DC 20426. The Order may also be viewed on the Internet at http://www.ferc.fed.us/online/rims.htm (call 202-208-2222 for assistance). Comments, protests, and interventions may be filed electronically via the internet in lieu of paper. See, 18 CFR 385.200(a)(1)(iii) and the instructions on the Commission's web site at http://www.ferc.fed.us/efi/doorbell.htm.

After reading and reading, I'm going to cut to the chase here. Are you happy that this info you've found could be used against the Bush administration?

It would be regardless and you know it. It grieves me to see this crap brother and I'm just pleased that I could get it aired out here on Freerepublic first. Clinton didn't dumb down my expectations of MY president. Just like the liberal who just posted, I want the truth, then I'll make up my mind.

Yeah...I too want to be a big fan of Dubya's but too many issues get in the way. The free trade issue and the free immigration issue are biggies in my book. The Ken Lay connection as one of Bush's closest friends and financial backer (some reports indicate "chief" financial backer, but I'm going to look into that more closely) is highly suspicious in my book. Everyone can rah-rah Bush, but something stinks here. The Enron bankruptcy and the implications are enormous, financially, economically and politically.

How was Bush supposed to know when he took Enron's money a year ago that they were going to be bankrupt a year later when it seems that nobody else did either?

(1) If the purpose of such issuance is the construction, completion,

extension, or improvement of facilities, describe in reasonable detail

the construction program for which the funds were or are to be used.

(2) If the purpose for such issuance is for the refunding of

obligations, describe in detail the obligations to be refunded,

including the character, principal amounts, applicable discount or

premium, dates of issuance and maturity, and all other material facts

concerning such obligations.

I would like to know why they wanted to issue the new securties at that specific point in time, wouldn't you?

You guys think a blow job is a crime.

Even most brain dead liberals admit there was more to BJ's impeachment than that.
Too bad you can't at least be intellectually honest about it.
BTW, technically, under the sexual harrassment laws that BJ signed, it IS a crime for a
person to engage in sex acts with a subordinate over whom they have power.

it seems to me, remembering back on the commodity markets, that trading energy is a relatively recent thing, which started coming about around 1996-1998 under the clinton administration. Various electric commodity rates started on several commodity market exchanges at that time.

The issue is not that Bush/Cheney are guilty for taking regular political contribution but rather, did they give political favors that enabled this extremely serious situation to occur, and did they profit from it? The Ken Lay / Dubya relationship is one that raises suspicions. Given the enormity of this matter, I believe it should be investigated thoroughly.

Hey! There's nothing wrong with doing the Washington Post's and NYT's research for them for free! You know how sorry their investigative reporting has been for the last eight or nine years! They could use the help.

Wow! This is the first time one of my posts has been deleted from this forum. You guys must really be threatened by liberals and the truth.

It's just the begining. We will restore democracy in America and end the reign of corporate money over the voice of the people.

Bush want's to be Caesar (your own Bill Safire said that). We'll just see about that!

Could you explain what you are talking about? You say you don't like witch hunts, but that is what this is. There has been not one allegation of a single crime, there isn't even the apperance of a crime. There is nothing illegal about the donations, there is nothing illegal about any meetings, and there is nothing illegal about this waiver which is written in law and given to dozens of companies every year. Name one crime, please. This is the biggest non-scandal scandal I have ever seen.
