"We have to move toward a hydrogen economy."

Until it gets down to the equivalent of a-buck-a-gallon of gasoline, it's still a pipedream, IMHO. Alternative fuels are a lot like alternative medicine and alternative lifestyles, etc. Again IMHO.

Sorta like the tune "Imagine" by the Beatles starts out about "dreamer." I know, I'm too cynical, but the mathmatical reality ain't there yet. But, I digress from the thread. Sorry.

I've heard you call in on various talk radio shows. You do a great job. Knowing that you are a Freeper makes it all the better, it's like hearing from a brother.

Wow, talking to the best respected distinquished CIC of our lifetime, too! Awesome, really is.

I appreciate your point of view. I write in the field and have driven fuel cell and other alternative fuel vehicles on the Mercedes test track in Stuttgart and in other venues. I've talked to a number of people working on great new developments and the progess in the last several years has been tremendous.

I know we are still far away, but I hope this president has the vision to see the future and will take actions that help get us there.

We are more dependent on foreign oil now than a decade ago. That is not a good thing. It is is the strategic interest of this nation to change that and change it as quickly as possible.

"but I hope this president has the vision to see the future and will take actions that help get us there."

Would you be thinking he should set us on a Kennedyesque moon-shot-in-a-decade, "risky scheme" type goal, based on confidence in our people and our educational system to respond, aspire and achieve like we did then? Do the two equate? Are they in equal realms of necessity and possibility?

This may be a worthwhile subject for it's own thread. He needs something, as all Repellicans do, that will "catch the vision" and focus this nation on achievement, once more!!!

All the liberuls and envirals can do is carp on scarce resources and demonizing the demand, while doing nothing to secure (or extend) the supply through technology as you suggest. Their way is hopeless and "W" needs to "Keep Hope Alive!!!"

I hope he pushes us to be the leader in technology. I'd like the fuel cells to be produced here. I'd like the vehicles to be produced here. I'd like the 10,000 psi tanks to be produced here.

We went from the first powered flight in 1890 or 1903 (depending on whether you're French or American), to the first trans-Atlantic flight in 1922, to the Mach 3 flight of the SR-71 Blackbird in 1965, to routine travel across the Atlantic in a matter of hours at more than twice the speed of sound in 1971, not to mention the first of several trips to the Moon in 1969.

Don't sell the "dreamers" short, SierraWasp.

"I hope he pushes us to be the leader in technology."

Judas Priest! We don't produce anything but software and services, compared to what we did in the 50's & 60's! Now we're attacking agriculture that does actually produce something. Look at the thread of his OreGone speech!

All our federal government is doing is manufacturing bullscat EnvironMentalism and choking out all natural resource-based industries and he's got to get it stopped! You city folks have got to get into this or we're headed for even harder times... not success!!!

I love him too, but his people need to take charge of domestic issues such as these like they have foreign policy or we'll have de ja voux, all over again!!! What if Klamath Falls was happening in TX? It was these "red-zone" voters that put their faith in him and they're trying to keep faith, but IT'S HARD!!!

I was here at Free Republic when someone posted the "live" event. I dashed to my TV and was uplifted by Wubya's performance.

I thought all the questions were excellent and his reponses were on point.

Way to go Doug. For the record from the www.whitehouse.gov site.

President Holds Town Hall Forum on Economy in California

REMARKS BY THE PRESIDENT IN TOWN HALL MEETING WITH CITIZENS OF ONTARIO

Ontario Convention Center

Ontario, California

10:00 A.M. PS

...snip...
the text of the President's speech
...snip...

"Yes, sir, back in the back.

Q First, sir, a message from the crew that just recently returned from the USS Enterprise.  My son-in-law was aboard that.  From the last man and woman on that crew, they are honored to call you their Commander in Chief.  (Applause.)

THE PRESIDENT:  Okay.

Q And my question, sir, after you make Tommy Daschle go to his room for being bad, tell us something about your plans to end our dependency on foreign oil.

THE PRESIDENT:  There you go.  He brings up a very important point, because in order to make sure our economy remains strong and vital in the long run, we have got to have an energy plan.  Over 50 percent of our energy comes from overseas.  Fortunately, a lot of it comes from Canada.  But a lot of it comes from the Middle East..."

.

WAY TO GO, Doug!!!

If you listen to Hugh Hewitt, or read his WND commentaries,
this PING list is for YOU!

Please post your comments, and BUMP!

(If you want OFF - or ON - my "Hugh Hewitt PING list" - please let me know.)
