Support Our Country, the President, Our Troops in Harms Way and Our Fellow Citizens Who Now Find Themselves on the Front Lines of a New Kind of War
Plans are well under way and Patriots from Florida to Massachusetts and all points in between are preparing to rally in support of our country. FReepers will be arriving by planes, trains and automobiles on February 2nd. For those interested in taking the train use this link to Amtrak to make a reservation. Some DC area FReepers and friends will be taking train # 162 from Union Station and returning on # 169. If you are interested in car pooling post to this thread for requests for riders or a ride. For those interested in taking a bus use this link to Greyhound. Additionally, multitaskmom of Jacksonville, Fl reports that there are some great deals on air travel to NYC available.
Oschisms has submitted the application for a permit and advises us to be flexible and check back here often as the NYPD has a habit of changing the location even at the 11th hour. The NYC chapter is hard at work in order to make this a first-class rally one that will make Patriots proud. Plans are also being made for a paying of respects event at the WTC and for an evening get together for all FReepers and friends. Updates will be posted on FR regularly.
Here is why we are going to NYC on 2 February:
The International ANSWER Coalition - Act Now to Stop War and End Racism - calls for mobilizations on February 1 and 2 in New York City.
Mass rally at the World Economic Forum starting at 11:00am Park Ave., between 49th and 50th Bring signs, puppets, street theater, noise-makers, and your creativity.
· NO to war in Afghanistan and the Middle East!
· NO to corporate-centered globalization!
· YES to jobs, education, health care, and civil rights!
FR rules (thanks D.C. Chapter) will be in effect for this rally for all who stand with us. If you cannot abide by them, you will not be allowed to stand with us. The rules are simple: No violence, no threats, no provocations, no racism, no profanity and no law breaking. All law enforcement personnel must be treated with respect.
Here is a link to Thread I - hope to see you there!
We'll be there -- with my digital camera, in my Official Photographer position. :-D
If recent World Economic meetings in Genoa, Italy, Quebec and Seattle are any indication, New York is likely to attract thousands of demonstrators. The international trade meetings have become a target of often violent demonstrations against big business and the impact on living standards overseas.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says special training will help NYPD officers to control the crowds effectively. "It'll provide us with some challenges as far as enforcement and traffic control, but believe me, we're very capable of handling that. It's primarily over a weekend, so we'll try and keep that to a minimum," Kelly said Thursday.
As a precaution, Kelly says you can expect traffic to be restricted as a "frozen zone" is set up around the Waldorf during the forum.
PERMITTED DEMONSTRATION AGAINST THE WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 2:
9 am: "Meet 'em and Greet 'em" (let the exploiters hear your voice)
11 am: Mass Rally IN FRONT OF WALDORF ASTORIA HOTEL (50th St. and Park Ave., NYC)
One thing to remember is that the National Guard is already here (nyuk-nyuk :D) and the city might change their minds about the IAC's location and proximity to the Waldorf as easily as they might about ours.
If you run a conservative club at Columbia, please urge them to join us--the more the merrier.
I'm afraid it's even more serious than you may think, sweetheart.
"How?" you ask?
Well...& I want you to sit down for this...

From the Mothership to your eyes, I swear.
...~sigh~, it's good for a -BTTT-, though.
A new one approximately once a week to bump this event up into the breaking news and to generate renewed interest. We do this for larger events and it works in attracting additional participants - at times, threads grow into personal discussions - which are great - but at the same time we need to refocus on the task at hand. Regardless, you and your compatriots from Columbia are welcome to stop by, your schedule and legal concerns permitting. Thank you for your conservative efforts.
