THE folks at Msnbc are talking to former Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Alan Keyes about hosting a 10 p.m. show up against Fox News' new hire, Greta Van Susteren. Meanwhile, Van Susteren, a lawyer before her O.J. Simpson commentary turned her into a CNN star, reportedly has penned an eight-page memo detailing CNN's demerits. She plans to keep the document secret as long as CNN doesn't try to paint her as an ungrateful traitor.

I fear you are going to be sadly disappointed. If you think Dr. Keyes is going to be able to talk about pro-life issues and the Declaration of Independence, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

If Fox wouldn't hire him, does it not make you wonder why MSNBC would? Aren't you the tiniest bit curious?

My comment had absolutely nothing to do with any TV show Keyes would host. However, I am disappointed that rather than support someone that would discuss and educate people on the issues of life and the Declaration, many here have decided to redicule and mock. As far as MSNBC hiring Dr. Keyes, I offer no speculation...other than after seeing Fox rise in the ratings they have concluded that they need a strong Conservative voice for balance.

I don't agree with everything Alan Keyes says, but he certainly says it well. I love hearing the guy talk and when he gets on a roll it can be downright inspiring. And, if I am not mistaken, Dr. Keyes' heritage is African-American. Bush's support among minorities is now as high as 40%. Having an articulate black Republican on TV every night, even one who is well to the right of Bush on many issues, will not be a bad thing for the GOP. Far from it. GO ALAN!

Keyes will be very entertaining (a big TV draw). FOX might have to bounce Greta and have Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell co-host a 10pm show if they want to win the ratings war.

I didn't think so. Somehow, you don't seem to see the same "malice" toward Bush in Keyes' words that we do. How surprising. Not.

Richard, you REALLY do need to find another swipe to take at us; implying that we, once again, have misread and misinterpreted a thead is getting pretty old and is losing it's "orginality."

I think the thread is fairly simple ... Keyes may have a significant public podium, and some of us think that will be good, and some not. Some have said rather sarcastic things about the prospects.

I sent you freepmail about my remark concerning prayer. That sort of thing is better kept private. But, I have not been praying about your politics ... though I guess we should, indeed, pray for everything we would wish.

I don't know about that, but I'll bet he won't criticize the Republicans in congress for "balancing the budget on the backs of the poor."

Seriously though, I can't wait to see him destroy the arguments of his liberal adversaries by using logic and reason without resorting to calling them names such as "big time a$$holes."

I know many here will disagree with him when he criticizes the president's massive increase in spending on Education or when he refuses to join in the PC condemnation of using profiling to combat terrorism, but it's always good to hear both sides of an issue.
