Cardinal Ratzinger calls this "Relativism" and views it as the central problem within the Catholic faith today.
Here's his address to a bishops conference in 1996 where he describes what you are seeing in remarkable detail. It's a rather long address but well worth the read.

"Catholic priests cant even obey the commandment" "Thou shalt not keep your hands off the altar boys."
You might think that statement is cute. It isn't. It shows you to be an ignorant, hate-filled, Catholic basher. The priesthood is one of God's greatest gifts--given so that all of us can have the opportunity to live and grow in grace and stay closely united to Jesus, our savior. Before you attack the priesthood I suggest you find out what it is and why Jesus gave it to us.

"Perfect love casts out fear." "How do you know that?"
If you read the bible you would know that. St. John wrote that thousands of years ago. It's in the bible.

Just curious, I used to subscribe to the New Oxford Review, years ago. I'm not sure if it's even still published, but I really enjoyed their articles...have you ever seen it? If so, what did you think of it?
To: cathway
Haha, just for fun I did a search for it, and it's online here:

I think New Oxford Review is a great periodical (but I might be prejudiced, I have a pro-life fictional short story being published by them in the next several months...)

Wow! I'm impressed! ;-D

If the practical effect is that priests and bishops are free to ignore church teachingThe simple fact is; bishops, priests and deacons as well as others who work in the catechetical ministries are NOT free to ignore church teaching. They can be and are reprimanded (to the point of losing their faculties) when their teachings fall outside the Church norms! Some have been declared heretical.

I think the Wanderer has its faults but tackles some controversial issues that other orthodox periodicals won't touch. Agreed!

You would do well to visit David Armstrong's very comprehensive website I will add; Dave will correspond with whomever asks. He is a great apologist for the faith and can relate well his fundamentalist Christian background and his Catholic conversion.

Cardinal Ratzinger calls this "Relativism" and views it as the central problem within the Catholic faith todayThe most hideous of problems not only in the Church; this is rampant in today's culture!

concerning post#80.....I've heard troubling rumors concerning allowing altar girls for a few months now.
I've written a letter to the Bishop asking him to NOT change things. Our churches in this Diocese are full
to overflowing and as far as I know there is no shortage of altar boys. Shortages come when boys feel like
they are being pushed aside.
There have been some troubling issues within our own parish in Frederickburg that we've asked to be
addressed and have been largely ignored.
The majority of our priests are wonderful, dedicated, hard-working men of God and I'm thankful for it.

Dave Armstrong's page on
"Traditionalist" and Schis | matic Catholics is a vauable resource to place alongside TCR's resources on the same issues. Together these two pages constitute the best collection of links on the schismatic traditionalists issues that I am have found.
If anyone is aware of any other collections of links regarding schismatic traditionalists please post them here or let me know via Freepmail. Thanks!
