Abuse buttons are for gut-less fools who can't deal with anything they deem unpleasant. If a comment is bad it willbe obvious, unless some weakling ( coward ) is too afraid to read it. Reminds me of those who are just too squemish for the zoology lab. BWAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I wonder if I am in the wrong place entirely. Hey, you're catching on.
LMAO.

I find it extremely disturbing that Pat Buchanan would be writing such a book.
I mean, think about it: by definition our country was a nation of immigration and how different ethnic and racial cultures mixed to create a uniquely American identity.
His views are exactly that of Americans between 1840 and 1924 when waves of immigrants from Ireland, Eastern Europe and Southern Europe showed up en masse in the USA seeking a better life than their native homelands. Does anymore remember the phrase No Irish need apply? Or the perjorative words Dago, Wop, Spic, and so on? Or the way Americans poorly treated Chinese and Japanese immigrants on the US West Coast early in the 20th Century?
Indeed, I really wonder does Buchanan understand his Irish roots. His ancestors probably came to the USA during the time of the Irish Potato Famime of the 1840's; that wave if Irish immigrants were treated just as badly as today's Mexican immigrants, if not more so.
I'll say this though: this book isn't going to sell in any large city that has a long-established ethnic enclave (New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, etc.).

the destructive appetites of trans-national profiteers if any sort You hit the wrong link. The anti-capitalists are over here.

I'm sorry but I just cannot agree with the comment that illegals are "treated badly". Not after seeing how many welfare style programs are in place to see that they're fed, housed, educated and medicated to a degree that many of them would have never thought possible. I am really sick and tired of seeing our current tax dollars go to these people while we continue to add on mountains of debt that our children will never be able to repay. Somehow I don't think Pat's ancestors were given much welfare help.

Just for the record, I'm opposed to granting MFN to nations with significant human rights abuses (such as China). I have to part with the Bush administration on this one point. I don't believe that trade alone will liberalize the Chinese gentrocracy.

I never thought I'd see the day when the thought police got a foothold on this forum. I guess this just proves once again that when something gets big enough it becomes subject to the greater national forces of political correctness.Sad. Can you imagine the degree to which this happening elsewhere, if its happening here? Mind boggling.

Surely YOU do find Mr. Buchanan's book a mysterious & scary thing. You obviously failed to read & understand the founding documents & the many debates concerning them. This country was not established as a free-for-all. Washington left home & styed at the War for Independence for seven long years. He & our ancestors did not then announce an end to our government, borders, property rights or our culture. The people now ( still ) hold that soveriegnty formerly of the King ( & exercise it via their local & state gov ). We, perhaps many millions of very quiet, non-activist, law abiding Americans, also will eventually defend what is ours-ignoring political correctness, media jackels, the UN, Left Wing socialists & any other fools or anti-American orginizations. I don't know where the line is that we might eventually cross & may not return from, but our leaders seem to want to go there. That is much more frieghtening than anything a pundit might put in a book. Mr. Buchanan only states the obvious-his work may be judged by the hostility of the response &, also, the vacuous comments by some.
The only real crime against Orientals, in this country, ( which I have noticed ) was the horrid failure to reimburse the people of Japanese ancestry ( & or nationality ) who were removed during WWII. Their removal was perhaps unpleasant-but the US Army had already made plans for meeting an anticipated invasion of the West Coast. They had actually put weapons & amunition at critical points through-out the Rocky Mountains, at key passes where they hoped to stop the Imperial Japanese Army. I note no one addreses the loss of property & income of those people rounded up-I, sir, see that as THE error & perhaps a crime.

Same here in Texas. I hear Spanish all the time, some of these people even talk to you in Spanish expecting you to understand their language but by God they don't want to learn ours. Its the same across the entire southwestern United States. It wont be to long until this is ocurring just about everywhere. That we are sure of.

You think consumer capitalism is the friend of conservatism. So do a lot of Republicans. And they wonder why everything dear to "conservatives" is being swept away.
So we'll all sit around grumbling about "Gramsci" and "cultural marxism" and democrats and Hillary and Bill while the busy little corporations deliver everything these folks ever dreamed of, but could not get on their own. Why? Because we'll order it of course--good little consumers that we are.
To: Bush2000
Thanks, kind sir for your friendly & courteous reply! But the Worshipful Bushfans scare the you-know-what out me. They, almost to man ( & also millions of women ) ignore what's really happening. China, & most everything Chinese is the very personification of evil-not the people, but large portions of the current culture & all of the government.
How about our wonderful Citizen Fox ( he of the land of infinite coruption, drugs & death-the man who wares silk shirts & eats caviar in his palace ) & his abuse of us? He sends his millions to plunder us & this week he votes in lock-step with OPEC to raise the price of oil! What of our warm relations with a cowardly nation that would sit out TWO world wars & where are the Mexican troops at work? In Afganistanny? Somallolyland? Yemennybenny? Noooo!, they are busy shaking down the peasants, at home, for all the dollars, automobiles & merchandise they can take, as they come back from the real world. When & how does Mr. Bush turn off his moral compass to deal, in this manner, with such very, very bad people?
To: RayChuang88
I find it extremely disturbing that Pat Buchanan would be writing such a book. What I find disturbing is that we are being invaded by millions upon millions of criminal illegal aliens, while our government encourages and supports this massive invasion. We are a nation of laws. Do you understand this?
Oh, and my signed copy of Death of the West is on its way. I hope that disturbs you.

I believe the discussion of this issue is important. But you have to realize that it really does tread a pretty fine line. Sometimes people cross that line. Other times the moderator may simply feel that they crossed that line. In either case, comments may be deleted. To error is human. Both the writers and the moderators probably do make mistakes from time to time. I think the moderators do a pretty good job.
If the FR moderators allow clearly racist posts to remain on the forum, it will discourage those who wish to take part on a forum that is free from racism. Like I say, this is a tough subject to discuss totally free from those who will cross the line without thinking. I support the moderators who are trying to do something that needs to be done, but few of us are willing to help out with.

Take it up with management, it's their call.

The "...very very bad people..." that most Americans need worry about are not the unilingual burrito merchants of South-West side-streets, but the smoothly English-speaking political operatives smothering American liberties under a blanket of meddling socialist measures.
Don't be one of these grifters, or a supporter of them, no matter how much they wrap themselves in the flag.

Deletion of genuine trash is probably desireable-like cleaning the bathroom wall, but 'racism' is whatever people 'feel like' at the moment. The real definition has been discarded. I contend that an open forum with thought police is a very bad joke. If I say ugly or foolish things, then let people see me as foolish or offensive. I think this thread has demonstrated where the real trouble for America is today-thanks to a very couragous Mr. Buchanan.
http://pages.zdnet.com/sartre/RULES/index.html adresses the argument and will likely trigger a deletion.

Your preaching to the choir. I agree that people's views, when expressed, reflect solely upon themselves. And the fact that I love FreeRepublic makes it all that much easier for me to continue to see things that way. But if we seek to have newcomers come here and chose to stay, we have to tone things down a little. Do I like it? Not really. I'd rather anyone could come here and say "anything" they liked, even if directed at me. Once again, most people wouldn't want to wade through the endless debate that would ensue.
I hear you. And I do understand your dilema.
