You think consumer capitalism is the friend of conservatism. So do a lot of Republicans. And they wonder why everything dear to "conservatives" is being swept away.

So we'll all sit around grumbling about "Gramsci" and "cultural marxism" and democrats and Hillary and Bill while the busy little corporations deliver everything these folks ever dreamed of, but could not get on their own. Why? Because we'll order it of course--good little consumers that we are.

Yes, and I also think that the sun rises in the east, that Bill Clinton is a criminal, that humans require water and oxygen to exist, etc.

I think Pat has guts and guts are what makes great things happen. With out guts Normandy would have been called Normansi, Alexander the Great would have been Alexander the Gump, and JFK would have allowed Cuba to take shots at the US with it's shiney new missles. Question is, what's the impact? I think, in this case, it's good. We must, indeed, open our eyes to the bigger picture. We must look farther then the end of our driveways and back yards. There are forces that have declared war on family, responsibility, decency, humility, and respect and we must fight to keep these principals alive and not worry about Political Correctness. PC-not equal to-Freedom of speech.
Additionally, religion is always a taboo topic to discuss but, it is, however, one of the major identifiers for a people of a particular region in most of the world. If there is any form of threat to a region identified by such religions then religion is what unifies a people against or for a cause. Israel, Kosovo, Chechnya, Sudan you name it..
With Neo-Communism/Liberism I believe there are also such idiologies that say Nationality is bad just as religion is bad. If they, typically the Liberals, can liquidate the whole idea of nation state and religious fervor then maybe the world would be a better place. After all it's been the liberal mentality that religion causes war just as nationalism does. It's for peace, or is it?
The fact is, you may have peaceful intent but, Mr. Mideast may not. There is no doubt in my mind that groups beyond Bin Laden believe to be the NEO-Ottoman generation that have a dream of reestablishing the once glorious Ottoman empire under the guise of democracy and regional majority. There is a very simple way to dominate a region without firing a single shot. Numbers!
You see it in areas like Kosovo. Which was once mostly owned primarily by the Orthodox churches well before communism forced it's way in. After communism stripped away the Church's rights to property Ottoman Islamic factions saw that as an opportunity to reestablish the old Turkish boundaries. We helped! After forcing Orthodox people out by intimidation and the like the Islamic people declared independence. Again we helped! Has the Othodox Church received any cosideration? Nope. The communist policy was honored. That's where democracy tends to be misinterpreted. Just because you are the majority on a particular place doesn't mean it's all yours.
We must stop supporting these false representations of democracy in the world. We must not support groups like the KLA, Northern Alliance, etc etc because they are NOT fit to enforce rule of law, equality, and the principals of brotherhood. We should fight the assault on family, God, and decency, because even an Atheist enjoys and benefits from the enalienable rights endowed by his creator whether he likes it or not.

Communism?

Fascism?

Feudalism?
