OK, I'll admit to not being the sharpest light-bulb in the egg carton...but your response makes no sense! Do you think Catholics don't believe in the bible?
And tell me plainly, are you anti-Catholic? Anti-Pope?
To: grumpster-dumpster
The words in bold just struck me as odd and humanistic, which is why I highlighted them.
I disagree with the Pope gathering the religious leaders from other religions together based on part from the Bible verses I quoted.
I'm not anti-anything. I'm just pro-Bible.
To: sirgawain
OK, Thanks for the honest answer! Naturally I disagree with you about the gathering of leaders. I think it's more of a way to reach out to the forces of intolerance towards Christian ideas and thereby "convert" them to be less anti-Christian in their viewpoints... but I can see where this is an honest disagreement between us.
As an aside note: Please forgive me if I seem to have an acusatory tone... I like plain speaking and don't do well with inference or subtle meanings. -Peace be with You

OK, I'll admit to not being the sharpest light-bulb in the egg carton...but your response makes no sense! Do you think Catholics don't believe in the bible? Your Pope seems to have the idea that there is some benefit to have a gathering of religions from around the world for the purpose of prayer together. Now, if you believe your Bible you know that God does not hear sinners. The problem also, as sirgawain has pointed out, is that we are called to be set apart and not unequally yoked with the godless. So, while I do not object to seeking peace and pursueing it, to gather with the godless to pray is very different than praying for the godless. See (John 9:37, 1 Peter 3:11-12)
Unless the Pope means to call for them to repent of their Blasphemey, all he will be doing is sharing with them in their hatred for God.
Of course, you probably don't understand why I was also fairly disgusted at the religious gathering in the National Pantheon after 9/11.

I guess we cannot bring Christianity to pagans. I wonder what St. Paul would say about this?
To: CCWoody
So let the Pope call them together and let God sort em out... What's wrong with that?

Your vulgarity illustrates your mode.

Citing biblical quotes out of context to refute religious truths and moral principles may suit you well with those who are less educated and looking for immoral rationalizations.

And yet, the Bible uses exactly such language:
the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from their God. You may object to the language, but it is Biblical. You may object to the application, but you would also be wrong.
God takes a dim view about worship with the godless: Thou hast also committed fornication with the Egyptians thy neighbors, great of flesh, and hast increased thy whoredoms to provoke Me to anger.

"Of course, you don't want to hear this, but rather than reflecting Christ, your Pope will be doing a most hateful thing." In who's eye CC...your's or Gods?
To: CCWoody
Hey, kid, you may have read the the words but you missed the message. Try reading the Sermon on the Mount.
P.S. Do you have some odd hang up by emphazing such words as fornication and whoring?
To: CCWoody
The point to be made here is that some are more interested in how 'tolerant' and 'nice/kind' there leaders 'appear' to be. The rosier the look, the prouder they are. Those who are interested in how biblical/unbiblical the statements made might be - are ridiculed for obscuring the rosey coloration of the eyeglasses of adoration. When beliefs are racked against the shores of truth, the believers are angered - not that their belief is wrong (that is ignored) - not that facts disprove their belief (that is ignored too). They are angered at the person who points out the obviety of the truth they are wrecked against.. (ie the messenger always gets it in the end.) Just proclaim truth and let the hearers shout cry and cover their ears if they will. Those that choose to listen may be edified. Those who refuse to hear may be comforted by the cloud kicked up as you dust your feet as the Bible so directs. They will all have their reward.

bump to the good Pope JP II!
To: grumpster-dumpster
Another bump to a Great Pope... and to the Merciful God he serves!

From your post, above, CCWoody:
"Now, if you believe your Bible you know that God does not hear sinners."
That's really strange. Does it mean that you aren't a sinner? Amazing. How do you do it? I mean, up until now, only Christ was sinless....
I always thought that sinners could pray for mercy, forgiveness, and salvation...where does it say that they can't? Just curious...

Now I know how our Jewish friends on this forum feel. It's hard to believe the amount of hatred some people have for their fellow Christians.
