Dick Cheney due to health reasons decides to withdrawl his name from the ticket in 2004 after a very successful term as Vice President. He figures he can still stay close to the President and advise him in any way possible, but not have to deal with the every day hustle of being the Vice-President of the country. So who would President Bush pick to be his new VP? I think Condi Rice would be a wonderful choice but I dont know if this country (especially the Republican Party) is ready for a VP who is black, a woman, and from the South (Alabama). I also love Powell but would he and Pres Bush be able to work hand in hand as P-VP? Donald Rumsfeld is a terrific Sec of Defense and I think he would make a great President one day...maybe him being VP could lead us to 8 great years of a Rumsfeld Presidency after 8 great years of Bush. Other candidates that come to mind would be Tom Ridge, Liddy Dole, Ashcroft, and dare i say it...JOHN MCCAIN ( i know, i know, but i think the Bush-MCcain ticket would be a shoe in). My pick would have to be Rice, she is worth her weight in Gold. She is a genius, works well with Bush, and would really be great for the country. And what would the naysayers say after Bush nominates a black woman to be his right hand WOMman?? I think they would just have to throw up the white flag! GO DUBYA!
I don't care if you learned this 'Big Lie' technique at Goebbel's knee, or IF YOU SHOUT, nothing can turn your lies into the truth.
As we see by this definition, by your proud contempt for others you are Arrogant.
You mean "who cares" as in a candidate's the opinion of an unborn baby dumped in a trash can?
Yeah, ya know -- just maybe I am for "choice" afterall. The "choice" of having abortions performed retroactively.
Oh really?? Have you NOT read the history of the Republic of the United States of America? All just a coincidence, eh?
God was not responsible for the Republic of the USA, men were. Many (not all) of those men believe in a God. Men believing in a God does not make God responsible for the actions of those men.
If you are to make God responsible for the USA you also have to make God responsible for Salem Witch Trails, the Slaves mentioned in the Constitution, the massacre of tens of thousands of Indians, the death of hundreds of thousands of men during the civil war, the IRS, 40 million abortions, etc.

Actually, I'd like to know where you got those figures you are posting about support for baby-killing. I think you're wrong. I think far more Americans are against abortion than you claim.
I do not care what you think.
You can find that poll at:
http://www.gallup.com/poll/topics/abortion.asp
And according to you, while we're at it, the exact words of what both you've written AND I've written here have been scripted and programed to utter whatever as robotic pawns of Providence?
Did we have FREE choice in the matter of what we uttered? What was in our hearts? The hearts of Washington, Adams, and Washington?
The leaders of this country since it's inception were not sinless saints, but mere mortals, albeit, the best this world has ever see, bar the Utopian ideal (which you seem to feel ought to have been expected).
The questions posed to you remains: Name a more "inclusive" country on earth; Name another county on earth which enforces liberty anything close to a US Constitution.

THE PRO-LIFE ADVANTAGEBeing pro-life gives a candidate an advantage among voters. A 1998 post-election poll by Wirthlin Worldwide showed that 22% of all voters said abortion affected the way they voted. Of those, 59% (13% of all voters) voted for candidates who oppose abortion while 41% (9% of all voters) voted for candidates who favor abortion.
In a 1996 post-election Wirthlin Worldwide survey, 12% of the voters said abortion was one of the two most important issues in deciding their vote. Of those, 45% voted for Bob Dole compared to 35% who voted for Bill Clinton. These results were mirrored by a Los Angeles Times exit poll in which 14% of Dole voters cited abortion as one of the two most important issues, compared to 7% of Clinton voters.
In the Wirthlin survey, 13% of all women cited abortion as one their most important voting issues-- 50% voted for Bob Dole compared to 39% who voted for Bill Clinton. A Los Angeles Times nationwide exit poll found that 11% of women considered abortion one of the two most important issues in determining their vote. Of those, 54% voted for Bob Dole, while only 40% voted for Bill Clinton.
A 1994 post-election poll by Wirthlin Worldwide showed that 18% of all voters stated that abortion affected their vote and they voted for candidates who oppose abortion, while only 9% of all voters stated that abortion affected their vote and that they voted for candidates who favor abortion. Figures from a 1992 exit-poll conducted by Voter Research and Surveys show that President Bush had a sizable advantage over Bill Clinton among those who voted on abortion. Thirteen percent of all voters listed abortion as one of the top two issues which mattered most in deciding their vote. Of those, 55% voted for Bush and 36% voted for Clinton.
An ABC News exit poll in 1988 found that 14% of all voters said abortion was "very important" and they voted for George Bush while 9% said abortion was "very important" and voted for Michael Dukakis. USA Today acknowledged that in the 1988 election, George Bush held an advantage among those who voted on abortion:
"Despite all the TV ads and speeches on prison furloughs and the Pledge of Allegiance, few voters cited those as key issues. The No. 1 issue: abortion, cited by nearly a third of voters interviewed by ABC News. And those who cited abortion went for Bush."
I am not surprised. People with a deep, single-minded agenda are not only blind to true facts, but they are also afraid of them. You sound like the infamous Taliban leader, Omar, sitting around yapping about how they were going to defeat the USA in the final weeks of the Taliban. He believed his own rhetoric and you believe yours.
Will the abortion plank float or sink the GOP? The 2002 elections will be very telling. I hope the GOP does remain viable. There is too much too lose on so many issues that are winnable.
Abortion law WON'T go back to the states until a PRESIDENT makes some good SCOTUS appointments of people who respect the Constitution. In addition, you failed to answer the second point -- namely, that a RINO president would set the conservative movement back 20 years.
Are you against JBT's and what happened at Waco? It's a human life issue.
Do you think that the government should fund scientists who grow babies in a vat so that we can strip them down for replacement parts for the sick? No? Then support life, because arguments about the constitutionality of this or that kind of federal funding are not too compelling, right though they may be. People need to be convinced that this is wrong.
Are you for allowing American families to survive by lowering their tax burden? Respect for the traditional family, which is destroyed along with the right to life in Roe v Wade (i.e., the father has no say over his child's life), is essential to a culture that will promote any of the ideas that FReepers hold dear.
Liberals don't just want a nanny state. That is only a means to their long-term end. They are trying to use the nanny state to destroy our culture, and then to replace it with their values and beliefs.
Gramsci, an Italian Communist, knew that brute force would never lead to real socialism. He discovered that you can only promote socialism in the West if you destroy the influence of Christianity and family values on the population. His strategy has all but totally succeeded in Europe, and it's being implemented here right now. It's something that every patriot must fight, even if he is not a believer.
It is there in balck and white. Dozens of SCOTUS decisions have upheld it. It is not a debatable issue.
