Curious About Freeper's Views Of Joyce Meyer

"You got me plum-hypnotized," Elmer Gantry says to Sister Sharon Falconer in that film/novel.

Is that the case with me over Joyce Meyer?

She seems pretty good at down-home preachin'. And while not a classic beauty, she yet ministers out a fair amount sex appeal, along with the word.

(I think, ultimately, it's those Texas/Missouri eyes.)

I post this to philosophy since, as I know she has a fair amount of, at least internet detractors, it yet seems that her ability to project the Word, is as anchored in the integrity of faith as any other TV preacher I can recall.

...Except perhaps the late Bishop Fulton J Sheen.

In short though, Meyer lately fascinates me, and I'm curious what other Freepers may think. Particularly Evangelicals!

Thanks, and Merry Christmas to All!

I will add my 2 cents worth on a whole different side of JM. We have worked with a lot of Christian and non Christian businesses, and as businesses go, give me more like Joyce's! Her people (and she) have never questioned our price, (but not been foolish and throwing money away) never delayed paying us, and always been forthright and honest in dealing with us. She lives in her business and life what she preaches from the pulpit.

It seems then there should have been no women depicted in the Bible, lest they detract from the Word,

or their ways seem unintended except as perceived through men's eyes.

Also #126 on this thread.

Merry Christmas.

"It isn't up to you to make a call over what God said in His Word. Meyer has other problems docrtinally, besides the fact that she is totally out of God's will by preaching to me.

And so you've made that call.

Though those things - good and ill - that women do in the Bible, are seen and interpreted by me as a man. For, unless by God's grace, I cannot see the whole thing as a woman. But with a man's perception.

That's not all good, by either perception. But I'm human, and a sinner. And God is God.

It's confusing.

Yet Meyer, as a woman, is what lately lead me to her, over some man, preaching the same message. And if she would lead me into the Word, where I might find the peace with God you mention, was that then wrong?

YOU claimed for them some role that Scripture does not give them

No, I pointed out that the Holy Spirit saw fit to tell us that these women were part of the five fold ministry. [A matter that you keep ignoring.]

#166: Thank you for that. I suspect it's true.

Happy New Year!

The bible is very clear in the different roles men and women are to have in the family, society and in the church. People can argue as much as they want, but it comes down to believing or not believing in the clear teaching of the Word of God. However, unless she is preaching another gospel I don't believe it is profitable or Christlike to slam her or question her motivation or salvation. I haven't personally heard her but have read about her. From what I have read about her, I would not agree with some of the things she preaches about. But if someone is truly growing spiritually under her teaching we shouldn't begrudge them of that. The main reason, IMO, that this is such a hot topic is the extreme lengths many in the Word of Faith camp have taken things and how the cause of Christ is ridiculed because of them. So if someone is anywhere near that camp they are guilty by association.

Isn't that what a lot of the word faith doctrine is about? Don't they teach that you are god with a small g?

None that I have either heard, or hope to hear. If I ever hear it, I'll be the first to protest.

Yes, but almost nobody knows that she had the mastectomy. Even I didn't until just now. I don't think he was intentionally trying to make fun of her bout with breast cancer.
